In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I had to bring my Red Stripe male to the vet today

My Red Stripe male prolapsed while breeding and I had to bring him to the vet today. I tried warm sugar water baths and preparation h, but none of them worked. The vet wasn't able to get the hemipenes back in, so he's going to put him under anesthesia tonight and try to get them back in place. Hopefully everything goes well. WISH MY LITTLE GUY LUCK.

Robert,

I hope everything works out for you. I know how stressful it is to have a little one in the vet. (Talking about them like they're my kids again, lord help me! lol :hehe:)

I had a prolapse once and it took about a week of soaking in thick sugar water and prep h several times a day to correct it. I don't think it will go back in the same day. It takes a few days to get it corrected with soaks and prep h.

Good luck with him!

I have been in those shoes and it sucks. I wish you luck and hopefully you can get this corrected.

luckily I have not experianced a prolapse as of yet, but i'm sure being a breeder soon the day will come :) And when that day does come, i will be prepared! :)

I had that happen last year too. It does take about 3 days with the sugar water soaks and the preparation h for it to go back in. But it does work.Make sure you keep him on moist papertowels until it does go back in.

I'm sorry you are going thru this. My little guy just had one of his hemipenes amputated 2 hours ago, so I know how you feel.

I hope your guy has better luck than mine did.

GOOD LUCK LITTLE GUY!!!!!! (Hey, Who you calling Little?????...LOL)

I (knock on wood) have never had a gecko have this happen, but I did have a Tegu prolapse, and it did take a few days of soaking, moist/ CLEAN enclosure and Prep H, to have it go back in.

Good luck big fella. Ouch !! That happened to my star breeder early last season and again, it took a few days to resolve. The Prep H is the miracle cure and two months later he was good to go and produced our best Redstripes so far. Amputation or the bullet ?... I'll take the bullet.

OK maybe this joke IS getting old! But... hope everything comes out ( I mean goes back in) OK :)

Thanks everybody. I got him back from the vet today and he looks better. His colors are a lot better which is a sign of him being less stressed. The vet stitched him up and I'm going to go back in Saturday to have the stitches removed. Hopefully everything will be back to normal after that.

I tried the soaking and prep h for a couple days but nothing was happening. I decided I'd rather just take him to the vet to get this fixed before it was too late.

Bad News

Well, to make a long story short, his hemipenes had to be amputated. It looks like my red stripe cross project is over. Luckily he's still nice and healthy and will make a great display animal.

Wait! They didn't take both of them did they? When my guys was prolapsed and they couldn't get it to stay in they just amputated the one side, and he'll be good to go in a few months. But I plan on waiting till next year to breed him.
