So I have a clutch due on Oct 1st, but I like to candle once a week when I do my temp checks to make sure everything is alright. But in this case I think something has happened to one of the eggs. The temp is 88 at the moment.
This egg has lost the veins that it had after it was laid and it looks almost like there is hemorrhage. Have you seen this before? I'm going to wait until it molds before I take it out just in case, but it also has odd speckles when you shine a light in it. The color is all wrong as well.
I hate to say it, but I think I lost this one. The one thing I can think of is that when the eggs were laid they did not stick together and when I was moving the female a few of them rolled (she would not let me mark them for 'this side up' I tried but she was *very* angry) and so I may not have gotten this one right side up. I don't know how long after laying they need to be set on the one side, but she had just finished laying when I moved them.
Here is an egg from the same clutch for comparison:
