In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I think something is wrong with this egg

So I have a clutch due on Oct 1st, but I like to candle once a week when I do my temp checks to make sure everything is alright. But in this case I think something has happened to one of the eggs. The temp is 88 at the moment.

This egg has lost the veins that it had after it was laid and it looks almost like there is hemorrhage. Have you seen this before? I'm going to wait until it molds before I take it out just in case, but it also has odd speckles when you shine a light in it. The color is all wrong as well.

I hate to say it, but I think I lost this one. The one thing I can think of is that when the eggs were laid they did not stick together and when I was moving the female a few of them rolled (she would not let me mark them for 'this side up' I tried but she was *very* angry) and so I may not have gotten this one right side up. I don't know how long after laying they need to be set on the one side, but she had just finished laying when I moved them.

Here is an egg from the same clutch for comparison:

Definitely looks to be no good but you are doing the right thing keeping it. You'll probably get about 10 responses saying how someone has hatched babies from worse though lol.

Good luck with it and the rest of the eggs.

I figure there is no risk in keeping it. I've heard of some pretty bad looking egg hatching but this one had veins two weeks ago. I'll keep my fingers crossed

Yeah, it was likely destined to not make it. Probably nothing to do with it's position. Definitely looks dead/infertile, though.

Good luck with the rest!

I'd agree that it's not going to make it. I do not think it has anything to do with being rolled though. I've had eggs roll before, both in the beginning and later in incubation, and had no issues. So I think the theory that bp eggs will drown if they are turned may be a myth. I saw a good paper on the subject as well, but I will have to find it tomorrow since I am on my phone now.

Im going to tell you from experience that egg is bad, if the whole clutch looks good and that one looks like that its no good. I think me and have the same flash light lol.

Sigh. Yeah I think that egg is toast. It's just a little led mag light. I can put it in its own container that's a good idea.

yea quiet a few of my eggs in my last clutch rolled when I pulled mom off them...no issues what so ever....fat healthy babies...sad to lose an egg tho =( hope the others are perfect for you!!

I can't tell you how many roll outs I've had, and every single one has hatched just fine.
That egg looks like it was destined to be bad from the get go.
