In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I think this has gone on long enough...but how long has it been?

What a difference a day makes...
I checked on the girls today (yup - girls, both of them), and the smaller one looked even more like her father (at least to me). I thought about putting her in a tub of vermiculite for the most accurate assessment, but I didn't want to bother...so I took her pic outside, around 1045, in overcast conditions.

(At this particular moment, April, I'm thinking you should have claimed her yesterday, lol)

is it too late to call dibs? haha
I do like her with that cool stripe going on in the back half but wouldn't blame you if you decided to keep her.
;)

I tried to reply to this earlier, but my internet went out mid-post...

You've got a few weeks before you need to make a decision, April. They've got to shed and be feeding regularly before it becomes an issue...by that time, the other clutch should be out, just to add to the decision making process. I've been contacted by enough people that the pewters from both clutches may be spoken for, lol; but I've made it clear that you've got first choice

A couple weeks in, and the little one still hasn't shed...and she still tends to crinkle quickly if I don't keep her on wet paper towels. That said, she only refused her first offered meal (the day after the other girl shed). She's eaten 3 times; but her prey response is weaker, and she typically starts out with warning strikes...finally working up to the big grab.
The other girl has eaten 4 times, and is already on f/t - snatching crawler/hopper mice off tongs without hesitation.
The size difference has become quite pronounced - when I first weighed them, the smaller one was only 4 grams less...now she's 25 under. (Those numbers don't seem right to me, but that's what I got.)
I'm waiting for them to shed to take new pictures.

Since April referenced this thread, I figured I would update it...
I ended up pulling the smaller girl off the table because she wasn't shedding. She got to the point that I was pretty much keeping her in water most of the time - she just got too dry and crinkly if I didn't. Last week, April's girl had her 3rd shed...as of today, I've gotten about half of the (thick) retained shed(s?) off the little one. She eats great, and has grown some; but looks like crap because of not shedding. As I explained to April, I once had a bullsnake that would never shed on her own...I had to peel her every time, and it was always a chore. So far, this girl reminds me of her; but I'm hoping that this isn't a long term issue.

Hi Harald, how's the sister doing, is she still a problem shedder?

Here's an updated pic of 'Karma' from last night
:)

Not anymore ...but only because she died about 2 months ago. She never did shed correctly - she ate well, but didn't grow as much as one would have expected. It was something of a relief, honestly - I'd been leaning toward putting her down; but was having a hard time justifying it.

Funny you posted this; I've been meaning to ask how they were making out.

awww that's a shame, she was really pretty with that full stripe going on. Sorry to hear it!

Karma is doing great, every time I pick her up she doubles in size because she sucks in so much air! lol it's super cute, lil huffy puff ball of BP.
:D

edit to add - the male pastel is doing good as well, he was being a stingy eater for a while but has since caught on that these f/t feeders are tasty.
