In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I want my user name changed

I'm not sure who the admin here is, so I figured I'd ask here. Can one of the admins please change my username to: PWSerpents

No he can't....but, as a contributing member, his request to have his user name changed would be granted. (He'll still have to contact WebSlave to get it done)

Caleb - changing user names is an option reserved for paid members.

Gosh, since when do you have to pay to have your username changed? Kernel is my name I use on forums, but I wanted it changed to PWSerpents (the name of my business is Piney Woods Serpents). I would appreciate it if you would grant a username change in this case, WebSlave.

And why is it that you believe you are due an exception to this policy?

Look at this from my perspective, please. I would like to offer SOMETHING to members to try to entice them into becoming paying members. Quite a lot of the functions and features of this site, including advertising in the classifieds and advertising in the signature area, are offered for free to members simply by registering here. Since a member name change is something that I have to do myself, shouldn't I consider my time as having SOME value? And is this completely out of line and reason to take the position that making this a benefit of paying members is a prudent choice on my part? After all, from what I have seen some members would be content to have me change their member name every month or so as some recent fad or fancy makes a new name attractive to them. Do I REALLY want to spend a goodly proportion of my time simply changing member names at a whim?

So, look at your own case. You want to change what appears to be a PERSONAL member name to a BUSINESS oriented name. Apparently so you can reflect this more professional and business appearance when you sell animals or merchandise on this site. Well, if I may be so bold, do you think that a mere $25 contributor membership for you to make this transition to a BUSINESS appearance is unreasonable? I guess a lot of people would just like to have everything for free, but quite honestly, if EVERYONE here felt that way, well, this site just would not be here. Would it really be fair that I paid all the bills out of my own pocket while others were making money from my efforts to maintain this environment for them? Seriously, is it really out of line that since many people wish to make money off of this site, that I would like to make some money off of this site as well?

Yeah, I know some people are thinking that heck, why not just register a new account here with the new name you want. Yes, I guess you may think about trying that. But I do audit all new registrations, and when this is obviously being done, I block that new registration. Some may be missed, of course, but if discovered at a later date, well, that new registration is subject to being deleted. Heck, why bother having a policy if it isn't enforced? I actually had someone try to register a new business name three or four times, and couldn't seem to take the hint that it wasn't going to be allowed. I surely didn't intend to put up with that forever and they seemed bound and determined to keep me having to reject their efforts on a daily basis. Finally I had no choice but to BAN that new name here. So now he can NEVER use that name on this site.

Anyway, please look at this from my perspective. I need to make a living too, you know...

I see what you are saying, but don't you think $25 is a bit steep for a username change?

As April pointed out, the $25 is not for the user name change...it is for the membership level that includes that option (along with editing, bumping ads, highlighting ads, and a few other other things). If you don't want to upgrade your membership, that's your choice - we're not going to twist your arm...but we're also not going to give you the perks of paid membership for free.

Actually, no, I don't, all things considered. Considering what this site offers, mostly for free, I think $25 is a bargain just to help insure that it sticks around for you and others to use.

Sorry, but that is the policy here. It's a perk of paid memberships. If it is not acceptable to you, then I'm afraid you will just have to do without. If I made an exception for you, then why would I not have to make the same exception for everyone else who asks?

And $25 dollars....is not steep for the perks and benefits that as a breeder and business can benefit from. Lucky he aint asking for an all around membership fee. People are making money off what this webpage is offering. The networking alone is worth the donation....not even speaking about the knowledge and help from other members.

I'm sorry for the upset I have cause, it wasn't my intentions. Rich isn't a bad guy, he has expenses just like all of us and site bills are outrageous. I do want to leave y'all a little something to chew on though. What about people just starting out in this industry who don't have money to shell out like that?

It is a really small amount of money for a huge benefit. But if you don't have it, you don't have to have a custom tailored username just starting out.

If you are honest. hardworking, and provide good customer service, you'll get customers.
Some people think they have to have bells and whistles and gold edged business cards. The entitlement generation. You don't need any of that to succeed. Hard work, a little luck, and good customer service :)

Then they keep the user name they registered....but please stop with the silly/lame excuse. If you don't want to pay $25, don't. The whole money being tight, lousy economy line is a load of crap. It's $25 dollars - a fraction of the cost of animals people are buying...and, if you've got a business name but can't afford $25 to advertise it, how are you going to afford the cost of doing business?

You are so right........... so where are your coins? :D
