In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I want my user name changed

Ya think maybe it was sarcasm? I could be wrong and I know its hard to tell on line but do you think anyone would seriously be suggesting quitting school to get a job to pay a $25.00 fee for an online reptile site. Its one of the few posts that actually did make me LOL.

If I'm wrong and reptile geek was serious then yeah, I agree with the rest of you.

He's quite the troll, that one - he might be in the running for the lowest karma/reputation, someday, if he sticks around for a while & develops his skills...but for now, he's still a rank amateur.
Even that statement is more acknowledgement than he deserves, as it qualifies as "feeding".

Kernel - as has been stated a few times now, if you don't want to upgrade your membership, don't.
I'm sure as an unemployed 17 yr old, money is tight; but perhaps - since you're still living on your parents' dime - maybe you should curb your spending on reptiles. What's going to happen to the animals when you decide you want a social life, or to further your education...you get a job, or (gasp) decide to move out and face the world?? It sounds as if you've already bitten off more than you can chew, and you're still being spoon fed.

Ok Helen...you got me. lol. Ill have the coins by tonight. Let me not be a hypocrite and a cheap ass. Leaning more towards the cheap ass. When theres something good...support it. And I doubt Fauna is easy to run.

My parents are very supportive of me will let me stay at home as long as I want. Once I graduate I'll get a full time job (or at least part time). And no, I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. I just have to manage my money wisely. All my money goes to taking care of my animals, into savings and paying off debt. I'm on a budget and it doesn't allow for me to pay that. For me to spend that $25 is really cutting it close and I don't want to get in financial trouble.

You can only support something if able. I might cold do $5, but not $25.

Thank you! And you didn't even try to make me look like a MGA in the process..... :D

Caleb...When you get the 25 you get it. Hopefully you get to breeding some great reptiles and start making your money. I agree with you. When your able to...you give it. Thats all. Till then....Your known as Kernel. Many people here without a fancy company name who sell amazing animals. Good luck to you.

So you have it, you just choose not to use it for this.

And that is perfectly OK. If he can't spend the money, then he can't. If he won't spend the money, then he won't. That is certainly his decision to make, and I respect a young person recognizing the importance of living within their means.

The only issue here is that he apparently wants his cake and eat it too. Sorry but you just can't get the perks and privileges of the club unless you join the club.

Stavros--your name looks good next to those coins!

Kernel--we all started somewhere. In this business particularly, reputation is everything. You have to earn it from the ground up, and people are watching. Just between you and me, over 600 people (aka: future possible customers) have read this thread already. Your goal is to NOT be on their ever-growing list of folks they won't deal with. Pay or don't pay, no big deal. But handling yourself professionally and playing by the same rules as others is a very good start.

You're missing some points, Caleb...
If the $25 really isn't there, then you are already overextended. What are you going to do if an animal gets sick and needs veterinary care? If a thermostat malfunctions, or powerstrip shorts?
I could care less whether you, or any other individual, decides to upgrade - I just get tired of hearing the money blues when it's obviously being spent on other things. (You, for example, have acquired - or are planning on acquiring - enough snakes to require you to build "racks"...$25 is a fraction of what you would spend to get to that point.) Just say that you don't care enough about the perks to spend money for them. It's that simple, and it would have ended this before it got started.

Personally - my feeling is that, when you create and build a presence on the internet, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to change your name unless you are trying to get away from the image you've built of yourself. I was hhmoore on forums before I started doing business as KBI Herpetoculture...and I am known by that name. Sure, I could have changed to kbiherp, and many people would have figured it out; but I've also had people that returned to find me again after a period of years that might not have if I'd changed my name (not everybody does inquiries). There is absolutely nothing wrong with using the screen name you started with, and changing to a so called business name doesn't really impact anybody's impression of you. You are what you post; and the quality of the animals you sell will steer your reputation, regardless of whether your name sounds like a business or not (of course, ultimately, it is YOU that will make or break your reputation, as has been shown many times on the BOI).

You just made my point. I have allot of expenses and I'm losing money. I have money, but I have to buy materials for snake racks, I have to buy care supplies (rodent bill is killing me). I'm getting along, but I can't spend money on this kind of stuff until I'm making some money. If you decide to change and if not, fine. I'm not continuing this discussion.

I had my User name before I started selling the offspring from my snakes and dragons, while I am a contributing member, I just added my business name to my status under my name and a link to my website in my signature. It is that easy to display your business name without haviing your User name changed.

I'm guessing I have to be a contributer to add my business name under my username as well?
