    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Does any one know how?,to tell between a sulcata and a desert tort?.I have had for for around a year now and still dont know what she is,ive been told its a desert tort,and also a sulcata.I have even sent pictures to turtlesale.com,and they cant tell either!.I sent a picture to them and they said they didnt know,i wrote them back and asked what do i look for to be able to tell the two apart,i still havnt gotten an answer back.So thats why i am here again,i posted pics of the tort after i got her last year,and have gotten all sorts of coments on it,people telling me its a desert tort,and others telling me its a sulcata. I would really like to find out once and for all what i have!...Its important that i know !,So please if you can tell me what i need to look for on identifieing what i have,please tell me!,i dont want any opinons on what you think it might be,i really need to know on how i can indenti mine,please help!.

Yes...But can you explain why you think it is?,what are the markings you see?????

The colors are brown tan on the Sulcatta and on the Desert torts they are a more solid dark greyish color. There is really a distinct difference, but it would take a while to describe each in depth.
Here is a pic. of a Desert Tort.

Now that one has some brown in it,looks alot like mine except for the shape of his shell.Casey do you live in nv?,i do.I was just wondering if that desert tort is yours?,or a wild one you saw.

There is a reason they are called "Spurthighs"

The front legs of the sulcatta have many prominent spurs on the legs, which the Desert Tortoises do not.

I think it is a mixed breed or a Sulcata that is not quite normal. It is definatly not a desert tort.If I was you i would take it to a vet for an accurate decision.

Check with Sulcata Station. I have a sulcata, and it doesnt look quite like that.
