    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I Live in south Florida and I collect Subterranean Termites to feed
my Bearded Dragon Hatchlings.

Can anyone tell me the scientific name of these termites?

Does anyone know how to breed these nutritious morsels?

Any help will be appreciated, Thanks

Drawing a blank on the name of these guys, I have seen them swarm out of stumps down there.
Breeding could be a problem,,,first you will need a pair or a young fertile queen[[possibly you could get these from the nest when they swarm and then the food supply is easy [cellulose i.e wood].
They can be a problem as the wood they eat will need to be replenished and watch out for excapees.
Where did you get them?? [hopefully not from your house]

Hey John,

I have yet to find any Queens.

I get these in old fallen rotted pine trees out in the Everglades.

Its kinda a pain in the ass cause the mosquitos eat you alive
but one good log can yeild me 10's of thousands of termites.

I used to find them on golf courses in Naples in older palm trees and the stumps left , mainly cabbage and sable palms.
Beats going in the glades and getting eaten up, I am sure most course managers would let you on to 'rid the course of these pests' lol
