• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

  • IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!! About the Google Adsense ads being displayed

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

IE 7 page position 'problem'

If you hover your mouse on that arrow and wait for 3 seconds you'll see that it says "go to last post". So it does exactly this: It takes you to the last post of the thread. And if it is a long thread then last post will be at the bottom of the page and you'll end up there.

If you don't want to go to last post, click on thread title (arrow marked as 1).

This is preset behaviour of vbulletin and it has really nothing to do with google ads. You'll see the same behaviour in ALL vbulletin powered boards. ;)

The complaint isn't about going to the last post...that is what we usually WANT to do.
When we click on NEW POSTS, we are brought to the very bottom of that page. None of the thread postings are visible, only that ad for bird spikes.
By the same token, when I clicked on QUOTE in your last post, I was brought to the page to compose my reply...except the reply box was not visible. I was in the middle of the page, with the bird spike ad prominently featured at the right.
This is relatively new behavior...it wasn't doing this after the upgrade, it just started about 2 weeks ago. I would think that if it was preset, it would have been ongoing (at least since the upgrade).

For the record, I am not trying to say the issue is the Google Ad...I was just trying to help clarify what we are experiencing.

Please note that google ads are "dynamic". This means what ad is displayed changes from user to user (eg. according to your country, language choice, whether you see that ad before or not etc.). So I'm not sure what you mean "bird spikes" because I don't see such an ad myself.

But I believe that what you mean is that after page is loaded you are forcefully taken to the location of google ad which is at the right bottom of the page under "Powered By Fauna Ad" icon. If this is what you mean, then you are correct that this behaviour is not normal.

However I can't produce this behaviour myself whether in IE or in Firefox. Whatever page and link I click, it takes me to the correct section in the site. Maybe it can really be because of that specific "bird spikes" ad you are mentioning but frankly speaking, I have never heard of such a intrusive ad behaviour in google ads before so if it is, I'd really be surprised.

Please try a few things and monitor this behaviour more closely so that we see if we can catch a pattern:
1- For starters, please use a different browser (IE, firefox) and see if the problem still occurs.
2- Track if the problem occurs only in the specific "bird spikes" ad powered pages or in other pages too.
3- Note if this ad is a video ad or image ad or text ad.
4- Keep a log of URLs you see this problem (copy paste from browser window) and URLS that does not produce the problem.

These can really help us distinguish the problem.

Yes, that is exactly what is happening. On pages that do not have that google ad, the function & page position is normal.
I'll try to log some of that info, but I'll probably have very little online time until tomorrow afternoon.

Sinan, my preference is to block that damned ad and file a complaint with Google about it. They shouldn't allow ANY ad to take over control of the page like that, and quite honestly, my guess is that this may be a new option THEY are offering advertisers. I don't believe the ad itself would be able to do that without Google putting in code to make that happen.

If it is something I need to do, please let me know.

Thanks for looking into this problem...

I am being forced to the bottom of the page when I click on user cp, user profile, social groups. hmmmm.....thats all I noticed.

Hope that helps.:)

Also bumping ads will put you at the bottom of the page.

The bird spikes are gone!!!
And the pages are working correctly again!

I spoke too soon, as soon as I hit the 'New Posts' again, it happenned again, as well as when I hit 'Reply' on this thread!:bandhead0:bandhead0:bandhead0

Well, son of a :censored:
It's doing it for me again, too.
(It really was better when I made my last post...and I've been on several times, albeit briefly, since then without it recurring. Until now, that is)

I don't have this problem. I use Firefox and block all the Google ads, so I don't even see them. Maybe that's why the issue is not affecting me.

Actually it's a different ad being displayed. My guess is that this is a new "feature" that Google is offering their advertisers. Wish those ads didn't help keep this site afloat or I would deep six them.

But hey, SOMETHING has to help pay the bills here......

Well, I just modified the ad code so that area will only display text ads, and not the graphic banners. Hopefully Google isn't pulling this crap with the text display as well......
