    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I made a new hatchling drop its tail today. 12 hrs old and I do that. First time I ever caused a Leo to drop a tail. Darn it!!! I hope the little girl will be ok, and someday someones pet, but darn I'm mad at myself and sad at the same time.:crying:
 
It happens. It happens to everyone eventually. Don't kick yourself. She will be okay. She'll need some extra attention so she doesn't get behind weight-wise without that little extra margin of safety that the tail provides.

And just becuse she will have a regen does not automatically put her in the "pet" category! (unless she is a normal in which case she's already there :p no offense, I love normals)
 
Awww. So sorry to hear that!! I've wondered about it, but it hasn't happened yet (super crossed fingers)
 
Awwwww I know your upset but I am sure she will be fine.You take great care of your animals.I'm sure she will be just fine.A little extra TLC and she will gain weight in no time.

ohhhh!!!

I know how you feel.... kinda sick inside? I had an awesome reverse-stripe tangerine albino with a fully striped tail that didn't get the shed all the way off her tail (first shed) and it was constricting it like a rubber band. I was so worried she would lose the end of her tail, and I was very careful with a wet Q-tip trying to get it off. Well, I got it off, and the minute I put her back in her enclosure I heard that 'snap' sound, and that beautiful striped tail was severed. I felt so bad I cried off and on the whole day!
 
It does suck but it does happen, I have a baby stripe female and her entire tail was a perfect stripe, when I took her out of the incubator I took a few pics then put her in her tub and when I went to mist her, her tail went one way and she went the other, I felt it was my fault and cried a little, kicked myself in the tush alot but realized it wasn't my fault and she needed to be misted and it just happens sometimes. It is growing back great so she will still be a cutie just not a cutie with the original full stripe tail.
 
It happens to the best of us, and the best of us hate it when it happens. Don't worry, she will be fine, and will still make for a great breeder someday!
 
Sorry to hear about that Mark. With the amount of leos we keep it’s bound to happen at least once. I had a ceramic hide that slipped out of my hand and landed on my best SHTC male tail. Needless to say he was no longer a carrot. He actually must have been a vegetarian because he ate his own tail!

Ya it would be. But see he was a CARROT tail, and carrots are vegetables. People who dont eat meat are vegetarians, meaning they eat alot of fruits and veggies (wheat too). So he was a vegetarian, because he ate a carrot tail. :cool:

I haven't had something make me laugh like that in awhile! It's a rather preverse logic....but I like it!!
 
I had a girl do this once! Except she managed to eat her tail while it was still attached!

I was just starting to feed in the cage next to her (when i was using multiple aquariums), and I think she saw her own tail and went after it. Once she bit it, she freaked out and dropped her tail. Once it was wriggling around (and before I could do anything about it), she pounced on it like it was food! She was still a juvie so the tail wasn't too big yet, so she was actually able to eat it. It was really, really gross to see, but I suppose the tail likely has a lot of nutrients and stuff, and it's probably better for her than the crickets and mealies she was going to get. Still really gross though.
