• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

hi i bought my first 2 leo geckos at a pet store and i couldnt help but be more interested into them... there about 11 months old i got 2 females and hope to breed them soon... i wanted to know if anyone raises there own mealworms/crickets and how you would go on to do so, also can you order a male gecko thru mail carriers? im debating on whether to buy a "farmer" incubator to raise the litters in or would a homemade one be easier and cheaper... thanks for your time :)

Well stinky, I would suggest that you learn about them and care for them for a year before you make a decision to breed them.I don't mean to offend you but you don't even now the basics yet. Do you know of a near by herp vet in case of emergencies? Do you have individual tanks for each gecko? Do you have the time to care for the breeders and all the hatchlings? Also what are you going to do with the babies? Are you prepared to hold onto them until they are sold off? Unless you are one of the fortunate few this is more of a hobby than business. So don't get into this thinking you are going to get rich. There is a lot of work involved in gecko breeding. Just please do some research and read a book before you dive in.

I agree with brian, like I told the other person who is interested in breeding after only one month....I'm inlcuded in that but I've been doing tons of research and asking so many questions in here that everyone is prolly tired of me LOL.

RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH!!!
And of course ask questions here and get a gecko book. I've gotten a few from the library, but they don't have much. I've already spent well over the $500-800 mark on gecko stuff and plan on more spent once taxes come in to get all the neccessary things for more breeding. I'm sure that a few people think I should have waited longer as well, but I wanted to get right into it, so my life has been work, sleep, homework and research for over a month now. I've already dealt with my first big sickness issue and a $70 vet bill, only to have her die the next day. I'm also trying to sterilize all my equipment to get rid of any traces of this disease, which I'm noticing is harder than I thought. My vet is over 20 miles away but she is awesome with herps and very highly recommended. Do more research and ask more questions and then when you think that you know more than anyone here....ask more questions...cause you are no where near it (speaking from personal experience on that one) And make sure when you are ready to breed that your animals are healthy, well supplemented for vitamins and calcium, and find the best ones you can afford for breeders. Make sure that the animals you get are from reputable people like Kelli, Jeremy Letkey, Xavier, Steve Sykes, Albey, Ron Tremper, Alex Hues, etc.(not trying to leave out anyone, no offense meant to ANYONE) Most people on this forum care so much about their animals that they are classified as second children.

Yet again...

RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH!!

Let us not forget now that you don't "have" to get your leos from reputable breeders. If your just doing it for fun you can get them from anyone just so long as they are healthy. Granted the breeders Tonya mentioned are quite credible, there are many small breeders who put just as much work into their herps as they do. You just got to find them is all.

exactly, I knew that someone would say what I was trying to get across...like I said I wasn't trying to insult or forget anyone, but this way he/she knows what to look for

hmmmmmm Stinky........cruel parents
