In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I'm not a BS'er LOL. I have LOTS of blue dumbos

And with Deborah's comments; I'm good!!! McLovin it!! Still here though... All day everyday!! And; I did slip some codom dumbos to my partners here on and off fauna for more "testing.."

My 2 cents:

From my own eyes observing and comparing:

Tom Smith's Rats may be Dumbos, but they appear GREY/GRAY not blue or any shade of blue which I am familar with or any of the shades described in the research articles. They are also drowning in their own feces. He would have been better served to clean up the tubs before photographing them and perhaps putting the animals in a better light than the dark tubs. As it is, I can't imagine buying one of the rats pictured as a pet.:(:no01:

Tom P's animals appear blue and/or have bluish hues much different from grey/gray. His tubs are also cleaner and imo they are the sort of rats that ARE sold at pets in the upperscale petshops and online. :bolt01:

blurry pictures inside an opaque tub might have something to do with the coloring in the picture?

Drowning in feces? Quite a dramatic statement.

Sazooki fer life... Those pics are disgusting to us... Please refrain from more... And; have you ever ridden a CBR 1000??? You'd be singin a different toon my man.. Lol.. By the by; it woulda read negligence... Not with the E in there... Had to... Sorry bud... I do commend ya on your defense strat though?? My man!!

sorry man...most Gp championships. Suzuki. Most HP made from a street legal bike aftermarket: Suzuki. Fastest recorded production. Suzuki. Fastest streetbike in the world (salt flat racing) Suzuki.

You meet the nicest people on a Honda, but the guys on Suzuki's whip their butts.

When you learn to take the training wheels off the Ceebeeare...you can come stare at my Suzuki, but don't touch. You can't handle the power.

I just talked to Tom Pecanic on the phone, funny fellar for sure. I had to set him straight about them motorcicles.

My opinion:

I am having fun here like I hope everyone else in this post is. I hope EVERYTHING is being said tongue in cheek. I have faith that it is. So have fun, follow the rules and keep Deborah on her toes. This is the place for it. Keep it out of the for sale ads. To all parties involved....keep on keeping on.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Right to my new man suzuki4life... We had a nice conversation right now, and I retract all negative comments to my new man!! We both met eye to eye; and I'd like to call him my friend; I'd like to; pretty sure he would too... I stand corrected on the bike situation too; he wins!! Lol.. But; I still like my lil baby!! Lol... Shootin a friend request to ya now Gary!!

Oh, I was having fun. Couldn't you tell?

On the serious tip though..the tubs needed to be cleaned..I'm sure by now he's cleaned them, it was probably cleaning day when he snapped those pics :shrug01: It's just a peeve of mine that people will take pics of their beautiful animals in less than pristine conditions. It does distract from the beauty of the animals.

I run 1.8 in oversized mortar sized tubs (3x2) and clean every 10 days. At day ten, those do look pristine compared to what my tubs look like. I guess it all depends if you produce 10 rats a week, a 1000 or 10,000.

It's just for the love of the "snake food!!" I'm feelin it.. They got one in Afganistan seeking IED's... He gets treats for each one scented; has a custom suit for protection and does a damn good job!! Why; he's light enough to not set em off!! Gotta hand it to em now!!! Got ratties!! Get sum!! They're awesome!!!

Suzuki, you know me from elsewhere, I don't waste my time defending anyone, their actions either accuse or defend on their own, I just usually point out what I observe (USUALLY).:shrug01:

I run 1.4 and sometimes 1.5 (when I have new girls, I put an older breeding female in with them to help). I clean every 5 days, because that's what my schedule allows...if I did 10 days, I couldn't live in my house. Also, I would dislike touching rats that I have to take out of a mound of fecal matter and substrate (I'm girly like that).

I am sure there are a ton of people with similar cleaning schedules as yours and TomS, to each his own. I do not care, I am simply saying do not photograph them like that.:shrug01: It serves no marketing purpose.;)

yeah my rats don't share my house, they have their own building with the bugs.

Wait, what's this about co-dom dumbos? I've never seen, nor heard of it. I have a pair of dumbos and one who is not (not a het. either). Definitely recessive... breed the dumbos together= all dumbos, breed a dumbo to non het/non dumbo rat = 100% het. dumbo, etc..

I won't comment on colors since I'm terrible with rat colors lol

As for cleaning cages, about 1 time a week. I go on color of bedding and smell (pine goes from cream - yellow when dirty).

Hi Brittany... I've got codom dumbies here by the dozen... You can have one if you can meet me at my vacation house in Lake Havasu!!! Lol... All day everyday over here... As for my ratties pictured; they are changed almost daily... Makes for a waaaaay cleaner coat and healthy specimen.. This goes for my feeders too....

Interesting, it would be cool to have those results posted.

For fun, here's some of my rats, nothing special really but cool imo:

Wow what a trippy thread, gotta bring this topic back up :)
not trying to instigate but to inform and or learn.

Tom P
AFAIK there is no such thing as a dumbo eared being co-dom, it's a recessive trait and it's been well documented as such.
I'd love to see records of producing a co-dom dumbo, it would excite the rat world like a co-dom Clown ball python would excite the ball world.

Blues come in 2 main colors American and Russian and both have various shades
I run all American blues because I personally think Russian blue is blah looking :yesnod:
(not a jab at you Tom, just my preference)
I'm working on diluted blues now to produce even lighter colored blues, silver and other dilutes, isn't genetics fun

From a black mom that carries blue

Blue should be REAL blue and Dumbo ears should be REAL lowwwww :)

Blazes and the amount of white on a blue can also effect how dark or light colored a blue is....

Welp; I can't believe I'm having to address this again, but here grows!!

First and foremost; this thread was in response to a funny guy comment in a sale's ad by the other Tom; one of my absolute personal favorite's; a know-it-all contest. Yippy yay!! Nobody really care's about rat's, except for the few of us I'm guessing; I'm glad some do.

So, here we go again. Jerry, I have rat's that are dumbo ear'd; and it is expressed in a co-dom fashion here at my place; yes, and have/has been for 10 year's. Hard to believe; I know; maybe that was why I paid $450 for three particular rat's year's ago? Who knows? What I do know, and completely understand; is genetic's, and I know them well. I also know not to believe in eveything I read and what come's at me via a grapevine. I was semi-blown away at my breeding result's year's ago as well.

With that being said; I definitely understand where you and a couple other's are coming from with the 'blazed and confused' replies; if you were within 300 mile's, I'd drop a couple male's on you free of charge and reap the benefit's of your graciousness when you are shocked to find that the "book's" and "rumor's" were not quite correct?? I am pretty sure I provided some phone number's in here of some "witnesses" to the account's, but who care's really. I don't need to show my rat's off, or care to appear that mine are better than yours or anybody's, like most like to do.

I have dumbo eared rat's expressed in a co-dom gene fashion: do I get a trophy? Who care's? Here is a coveted blue and white blazed dumbo female from CO-DOM line's shot with a crummy iPhone camera. I love yours too Jerry!! They are all super sweet kid's!!
