In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I'm sure you've heard this a million times....

I'm trying to decide which snake to get. I don't have much experience with snakes, but I've had a lot with beardies, monitors, ect, and have been researching snakes exhaustively for the past few weeks.
I've heard balls are great first snakes, but honestly they don't catch my eye as much as corn snakes or king snakes. So I have 2 questions, which snakes do you prefer, personality-wise, and where would I go to purchase a king snake? I've found many breeders for corns, and only a few king snake breeders on the boards here. Any personal recommendations?
Thanks for your time!

Ashly,

My personal favorites are the mountain kings. the Lampropeltis pyromelena, Lampropeltis zonata, and Lampropeltis mexicana groups. They generally don't get as large as the typical cal kings (especially the pyros and zonatas) and they have the best temperament of of any snake I have worked with, including corns and cal kings, and the colors are incredible. The prices can be a bit high (especially on the zonatas) but the others should be available for about the same or perhaps just a bit more than most typical cal kings. Just check the legality of them in Arizona. I know they have laws regarding native animals.

As far as where to get them, there are many reputable breeders on line. Sorry I can't point to anyone specific but you can check most of them out here on the BOI.

Good Luck

Thanks for the info!
I've been checking az laws, and so far all I've seen are permits for venomous snakes, restrictions on large boas in the city, and laws about hunting and collecting snakes. Of course the laws online might be a bit outdated, but thatnks for the warning :D

Kingsnake

I recently purchased a reverse spotted male from bigeasyreptiles.com. His parents were both Banana one being albino banana. I know when i was there Gordon and Sharon had more of them at the time don't know if they would still have them. the Babies were all different colors, All healthy, and really lively. Why not give them a call or drop them an email. They are some of the best people to deal with IMO.
