    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Imbreeding Cresties?

Okay, I have two female and one Male Adult Cresties. I know have 10 baby cresties from them. I have a few questions about the babies. At what weight should I seperate them to ensure males dont start fighting. Do people imbreed CG? I was looking to get other males/females to breed them with once they get old enough but I wasnt sure about imbreeding for crested geckos. I dont want to imbreed any geckos and have some come out deformed or anything.

Personally I'd separate the babies out as soon as they're hatched just to eliminate chomped on legs and tails- they tend to mistake those for bugs sometimes. Separating them also eliminates food bullying to maximize growth rates. Many breeders do keep them together until they're 5-10g, though, just to save space.

I would not line breed Cresties. Since we're working with the genes from only approximately 200 cresties that were brought out of New Caledonia to begin with, IMO it's a risky proposition. Not to mention good males are easy to come by.
 
i don't believe there is enough info on crested geckos to know about their genetics as well as some people would have you believe they do.
 
Line breeding is a necessary evil for developing new and exciting traits in crested geckos, and there is nothing at all wrong with that. Line breeding is part of and happens with every single animal humanity has ever bred intentionally.

With that being said, and no offense here, i highly doubt you are working on a completely new morph or trait. (very very few breeders actually are) I would suggest getting completely unrelated counter parts to any crestie you breed.
