In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Impaction..TIPS PLEASE?!

I have a wee trans baby that got a hold of one of her older brothers meal worms(a rare treat for him)
The baby is only about 7weeks old, 8inches (mostly tail), and was at 7grams, she got a hold of the meal worm on Saturday 4/10, since then she has pooped normal Once, I'm pretty sure she spit up some of the worm along with some greens yesterday 4/11. She has not eaten since she ate the worm. I know it's stuck in there, I can feel it, I'm pretty sure it's the head. I gave her mineral oil last night and have been giving her warm baths like crazy, and took her to the vet this morning. The vet has given her an oral enema of some sort, along with fluids. I'm picking her up later today (I'm close with the vet and trust he'll do what he can for her) But if anyone has annnny recommendations other than what I've already done I'd REALLY appreciate it! I don't wanna loose my baby :(

Thank You

You may want to offer small bits of iceburg lettuce to try and get things moving so to speak in her bowels. Keep up with the warm baths and try slightly bumping her temps up a bit to help aid in digestion.

Also you may want to stick with small soft bodied worms like phoenix worms. Just a suggestion though.

Oh yea, I never ment for her to get a hold of the mealie, ever the older dragons I have only get them maaaaybe once a month as a treat. :-\
They all usually get silkies and phoenix worms on a regular basis..
She probably thought it would be okay to eat the large mealie because she'd been eating such large silk worms... :(
They gave her a rectal enema this afternoon as well...she has still yet to pass anything.. :-\

I'm sure with enough soaks she will pass it in time. Hope she gets better. It sucks to have any of our scaly brats not feeling well.

I've had similar things happen from time to time. They usually recover just fine as long as she doesn't have the hind leg extension and shakes. She should come around...I personally would not try so aggressively with all the treatments... for her that is terrifying, stressful and could make it worse.

Yea, baths are the main treatment now. I'm letting her rest tomorrow..I'm just worried since she's still so young that she's going to go down fast without any food or anything..Her eyes started to sink a lil yesterday. She's a lil more lively now full of fluids, she was trying to climb out of the container I had her in to bring her home. She looks like a little blimp she's sooo full of fluids...
I'm going to keep her heated for the next 24 hours and hope whatever is in there breaks down and gets flushed out with the fluids, it feels pretty big, but she seems to be trying, so I haven't lost hope yet. She's currently gloriously basking in her cage.
No paralysis is the one thing keeping my hopes up, thanks Angie & Candice..
Her making it is my birthday wish now :-\

A 7-8" baby can go longer than you think without food. Keep the baths shallow+ dry completely...I don't do them at night just to be sure they have time to dry+ warm up. If she's basking that is a VERY good sign. A little mix of applesauce+ veg. oil will help in some cases but she's already bloated up...so maybe wait a day or two. Hope she's soon back to normal!

Thanks Angie! I'm really hoping she'll make it through this, she's keeping herself warm, moving around on her basking log. I'll give her the night to relax, and maybe try some of the apple sauce tomorrow, I belieeve I do have organic on hand, and veggie oil...I'll keep you updated..hoping for the best..

Everyone thinks their babies are cute...and she IS cute!

Thanks ^.^ She's actually a "super trans" both her parents are trans's and are great dragons, she's the first one of the clutch to do a complete body shed too. She's been doing Awesome the last few weeks that I've had her. She's a total piggy (would explain why she went for the huge meal worm), so I'm hoping she's eaten enough to hold her over a while..and make it through this. The vet said she was Very Feisty through the treatments..

Once you see her eat a cricket { or whatever she's used to } she will almost certainly be recovered. You might even try that before you do any more " laxative" remedies. Her poor little bowels will be worn out.

Yea, I've been offering her crickets since she got the worm to no avail. Maybe tomorrow when the fluids make their way out she'll try. I'm leaving phoenix worms in her bowl for her while i'm at work tomorrow, and I'll be home a lot more the rest of the week, and can keep a close eye on her for my birthday "vacation". Mommy's love rules mommy's desire to party.

Amanda, beardeds can consume the strangest things... One of mine decided to break a nice chunk off a plastic syringe while I was trying to give him his meds. and another one did it to a glass one the next day  (I was scared by the 3rd day). They are both perfectly healthy now... They just didn't eat for a bit, but they eventually passed it (OUCH!!!)

You can give baby food that has a good amount of fiber like prunes or something rather than the oils... That works on the beardeds and my kids

Yes,they do try to "eat" strange objects...one thing to never do is put fake plants in the cage. They look like the real thing to hungry dragons.

Wow that's crazy Shine O.O. I guess i'm just nervous because I had a baby stop eating before and in a matter of 2 1/2 days he died. I had a fecal done but nothing came up. His old cage-mate is now that crazy 9mo hypo that chugs water.. X.x I have no luck...
I get horribly horribly attached to my animals, so I hate when they're down.
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone..

I know how that feels. I grow attached to animals that aren't even mine! I have such a soft spot for any animal. I think your little one will be fine. Probably just giving you a scare for the "fun" of it.

I'm really hoping she is. She got really stubborn about a week after I got her, she'd hiss at me and try to play Big Dragon when I'd go to pick her up, even bit me once, but I've learned I just have to approach her slowly, her father was the same way, he didn't like anything above him, he'd flip out..
I'd be more than happy if she was to get back to her miss attitude self..
She's been a total sweetheart for the last 2 weeks, loves being out and hanging with mommy :(
lol, being a zoologist/herpetologist is not going to be easy, but I love these scaly lovers. <3

Angie- Yea, I never did get to find out what happened to him. He ate everything his cage-mate did and was in the same environment as her, and she's growing strong...I couldn't find anyone to help me with him when he stopped eating, nobody knew why and just told me he was too small for them to intervene..
