I am relieved by your answer.
I wish I could help you and brain storm it with you!
I was hurt recently by KS when they failed to support me as a paying customer.
Another advertiser was blatantly copying my Ads and trying to sell the same species of animal as I was, on the very same classified page obviously, right next to my Ads, using MY words!
(I put a warning out on the BOI and consequently found that a ton of people are also after them for scams they pulled!)...
I was livid and tried everything to have KS support me, but they preferred to stand by and allow a (reported) criminal to continue posting just because they were making good money off of those guys. KS tell you to go to the IFCC (FBI branch) and make a report, blah, blah... but you never hear back from either of them!
Your BOI is EXCELLENT! And I believe that con-artists like the ones I was abused by would not stand a chance for very long on a good site with a fair warning system. Buyers would not hesitate to put their trust in a site that is there to protect them as much as possible.
I reckon if you also had a paying system (like PayPal) to allow transactions to take place that offers buyer & seller protection, you would cream the industry. (I even mentioned that in my BOI posting, if someone was to come up with that idea).
You should charge for classified accounts (see how your rivals are doing it and do it better), with different tiers such as the 'Enhanced' benefits for serious sellers, and you will not struggle with the costs.
You started this one in good faith and good cause, but it is time that you make the web site pay for itself. After all, many people are making money off your hard work. ... Well, everyone except for me it seems!!!
Invest in a dynamic website builder/designer, and make it powerful, user-friendly, and a 'cool/hip' place for people to hang out, packed with information where people can come here to educate themselves, as well as buy and sell in confidence.
Again, no offense, but get rid of the 'green'!!! Start new & 'FRESH'!
If you were to think of eBay and PayPal and come up with a mixture of the two (how they compliment each other) - you'll mint the industry!!
Now don't blast me out if you think my '2 cents' is insane!!!
