• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I have to say in almost 40 years of life I have never experienced anything so terrible as I did tonight.

I was on kingsnake looking for a pair of blood pythons. They have always intrigued me and my fiancee and we decided to get a pair of them recently. I've done lots of research and got good news Friday from the doctor that I am now finished with chemotherapy, so between that and some other good news, I decided to purchase a pair.

I found an ad on KS from DTS herps and it was a great price so I inquired to Dan Scolaro. We agreed on a price and it was very good. I then asked about the guarantee and DOA policy etc... got his email back. All sounded good... so then I came over to Fauna to look at the BOI. WOW I was shocked.

After reading everything, I decided not to purchase from him, because if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I emailed him back and indicated that after some research on Fauna, I decided against making the purchase. I left it at that. The email I got back, which I included below was shocking and uncalled for.

Needless to say, this email doesn't deserve a response back and I have decided to purchase a pair from someone else instead.

What is wrong with people that this is how they would treat a lady who just finished cancer treatment. I would never recommend purchasing from this person, because if this is how he treats someone, then I can only imagine how he would be if there was a problem to resolve.

Just because you decided to pass on a purchase from him should definitely NOT have warranted such an immature response, regardless of whether it came from Fauna or not.

Had I known of Fauna BOI several years ago, I, myself, could have avoided a bad experience with Dan. At this point, however, I think it is of no consequence, as I believe he has been banned from this site, and has a permanent black mark on his name.

Me too. I didn't know whether to email back and criticize his behavior or just let it go. In the end I decided not to bother to waste any more time or energy with him. My energy was better spent on finding a reputible person to buy from and that's what I am doing.
 
i think you did a good thing with the research. I have never personally done business with DTS herps, but I have read the thread, and i have read other BOI's for other ppl who had not done their research and have gotten srewed over in the end! So good for you, I hope other ppl will read this and will look before they buy!

If you read through his threads here, I wouldn't think that reply would have shocked you... fairly typical of Dan (at least in these circumstances), from what I have seen here. The BOI has long been a sore subject with Dan, especially now that he is banned.
 
Harald, While I admit I didn't read all of the BOI threads about him, I made my decision by looking at the multiple number of Bad vs the 2 good. That was enough said for me. I truly value Fauna as a paid member, so it was important.

I guess that I just had hoped with my polite response to him, though I included fauna for a reason, that it would not have come to that. I am more thankful though that as a woman, I am not... as Dan suggested a boy with a tiny weiner... LOL

I believe you made a stellar decision there, as Dan seems to thrive on those who criticize him or have anything other than glowing recommendations for him. He will say or do anything to make himself look decent, but all he really accomplishes is making himself look simple and tired.

Some lady who just beat cancer thinks the worst news in the 40 years of her life was the sarcastic email she received from Dan Scolaro regarding a pair of blood pythons she refused to buy?

Give me a :censored: break please...please oh :censored: god I beg you please give me a :censored: break.

Are you :censored: people high or something?

Let me do the math here when it comes to the worst news I could hear in 40 years.

1) Dan Scolaro calling me a fool because I wont purchase from him.

2) A doctor telling me I have cancer and going through chemo treatments.

I SELECT NUMBER :censored: 2!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy :censored: I'll take 1 and 2 if I get to live.

Chuck, If that is how you interpreted my post, that's pretty sad... I never said it was the worst news... I said in almost 40 years... I've never been treated that poorly by another human being.
 
In the end I find it just amazing how immature and terribly rude people can be to each other, that email was quite uncalled for. He must have been playing limbo cause he went as low as he could go.

While I wouldn't personally respond the way Chuck did, I do see his point. I would assume that you didn't really mean that so it might have been a little dramatic hence Chuck's reply.

That being said the bottom line is that your health issue (which is probably the actual most, or one of the most, terrible things you have experienced) is under control....congrats.... and the BOI worked and helped you with your decision.

I'm sorry about your experience with Dan but I'm glad that that was the extent of it. When I saw this new thread on him I thought to myself " oh no, another person got scammed by him" but you did your research and avoided a potentially worst situation. Unfortunately it seems is going to continue with his usual ways. shouldn't be too long now before he completely destroys his own business, that will be a very good day for our hobby.

I thought I remember Dan saying something to extent of he's never lost a sale due to the bad guy threads on this site. I guess he wrong or quite possibly just lying as usual

Agreed, as soon as people like that go out of business, the better. Except there are probably more where they came from waiting to fill in the holes, unfortunately. As to the other part, I can say that the last time I was looking for something with the intent to buy, I checked everyone out on kingsnake that had what I was interested in on here. After doing that, I'd decided not to go with him & have stopped looking at any of his ads on kingsnake, though he does often have what I'm interested in & at great prices.
