    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am now ready to breed some of my own hatchlings (Yay!) from last season, and would like to do daughter/father and son/mother combos, but I'm not sure what the risks would be. Is it just me and my own human morals that say this could be a problem, and what potential issues could arise?
PS- for those who may have missed me recently, sorry- I had to move twice this spring and things are only now settling down.

Breeding back to parents is fine. Some say it can be become an issue with very minor defects after four or five generations, but apparently Ron Tremper hasn't added any new blood to his lines in thirty-plus years.

Remember, the only way we have all these colourful morphs is through a LOT of very close inbreeding.

Well, those 70000 (is that really the number, just out of curiosity?) all came from close inbreeding originally.

He got his first het albino and bred that to like 100's of w/cs i beleive. My friend has his book and he says how you can make a few hundered albinos with 1 albino male and 400 normal females. I know he produces 70k, he may own somewhere from 20-30k. Ill get my hands on the book sometime next week.

I've bred the same tang line since '95 but every few generations outcrossed to less colorful animals to keep them fresh. It takes longer than straight line breeding but the animals will be larger and more vigorous with less deformities. It also takes longer to attain your goals but then again you never know what might pop up.
