    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

A post on another pit forum has got me freaking out! I just got a clutch of eggs about three weeks ago i was only half heartidly expecting and i've had them around or above 85 degrees pretty much the whole time. according to that post this is too high and can lead to birth defects. and my high/low thermometer reads at 93 for the high in my kitchen the other day where they are located!!! i was out of town and left off my air conditioning and didn't think it would get near that hot. i think i'm going to move them gradually into my dining room where it is a little cooler or is that a bad idea? now i'm all paranoid about birth defects!!! anyone have any good news for me? As hot as its been lately I don't think I could keep them at 80 degrees all the time!

I'll let you know tomorrow or Thursday, lol. I had my bullsnakes incubating in either of two rooms, one which normally runs 84 degrees (my snake room); the other more variable, depending on temps & sun intensity. They were definitely exposed to a few temp spikes through the course, but started hatching today. Once they are all out, I'll tell you what I see

Of the 5 that were out by the time I left for work tonite, there were no physical or neurological defects. Continuous high temps, or prolonged high temps during key periods of development, can cause either type of problem (I don't recall all the specifics, but I read an informative article on the subject many moons ago). I guess the question is how much of the time were yours above 85, and how much above are we talking. A spike into the low 90s is something that the eggs could be expected to face if they were laid in the wild, so that in and of itself should not cause major worries...of course, there would likely have been at least somewhat of a temp drop during the night.

I have thought about doing some temp manipulation studies, but I have just never been willing to sacrifice the eggs (and the lives inside) so I always seem to run with what I know works.

Yes I think they will be ok. I can't imagine eggs in the wild to not experience some high teperature spikes. I also think my thermometer reads aboout 3 degrees high because I've been comparing it to another one I have. I've moved the eggs into a cooler area with a heat light on them that only kicks on if the temp does dip under 80 but they shouldn't be getting over 85 anymore. I wouldn't say they had prolonged high temps so they should hatch out just fine. I'll post some pictures in September when they hatch! Thanks
