In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have looked and read everything I can on the net just want a strait answer from someone with experience is 80-95% humidity good for ball python eggs or does it need to be at 100% Any answers will help thanks

Are y'all using vermiculite and water if so what ratio my ratio I'm using is 1:1 by weight but the humidity is staying at 83 so I added 100 grams and gets to 95 and the vermiculite still don't drop just trying to see the easiest way to do this I no I'm probably over worrying about it but it's driving me crazy bc I see a lot of ppl say 1:1 keeps there humorist high high but mine is only at 83 with the 1:1

This is what i do.

Mine reads roughly 90% +-3% or s0 and this is what I do

1. I use vermiculite and water in a tub. I put enough water in the tub so when you clump the vermiculite up into a ball you can crumble it apart.

2. put press and seal over the tub and make sure its sealed. Then put the lid on the tub

3. drill a 1/4" hole in one end of the tub The hole is your regulator. You can keep it uncovered and let everything adjust and check humidity. If it is too low after 24hr then partially cover the hole with tape and you can use that as a vent.

This seems to work great for me. I never have a problem keeping it regulated.

the hole also lets air circulation so it doesn't get stagnent

i hope this helps

Mixing is old school boring, lol.

I use locking lid tubs with perlite, water, egg crate.
No mixing, just add perlite, put the egg crate in, I use 2 pieces, and add water until it touches the bottom of the bottom piece of egg crate.
I use no press n seal, no need with locking lid tubs, they hold humidity just fine.
I also place 4 tiny holes on the upper sides of my tubs to ventilate them.

Robert,

I do pretty much the exact same set up as Danny, except for two differences:

1. I don't monitor the humidity level with any kind of "read out". What has my actual humidity been over the years... I don't know?? I produce eggs every year and never have had any one dry out and die yet.

2. I used to be a equal parts 1:1 by weight guy too. Since I keep my eggs elevated above the vermiculite, I have since switched to more like 2/3 water : 1/3 vermiculite, so extra wet. I'm not shy about water at all.

As long as you are not pouring water on the eggs and the eggs are elevated out of the vermiculite I have been perfectly fine. (Note: my eggs are not sitting in the extra wet vermiculite)

I know guys who use only water (no substrate at all) with elevated eggs and things work just fine too.

Hope all is going good with the snakes, especially the clown:thumbsup:

Thanks Robert I appreciate it and the clown is doing awesome he is 500 grams now eats anything in sight .....I see y'all say keep elevated what exactly or where do I need to get the grates to put on top of vermiculite?

I like to get condensation forming on the inside lid of my tubs, but not enough to drip.

The one thing I have learned though is this. Once you have found a method that works great for you. Dont change it, lol. I have seen people pop out a ton of babies with the vermiculite water combo and then try and go to something else and it didnt pan out as well or vice vera use perlite and eggg crate pop out a ton of babies and then change to something else and it not work nearly as well. soooooooo

when you find the one that works for you, stick with it and dont change.

Jerry mentioned egg crates, I'm not sure where you pick those up, sure he can answer that one.

I just have gone to Lowes/Home Depot and bought plastic light diffusers (I believe they are called) in the light / light bulb section. They come in about 2x4' sheets. I just ripped them down to the size I need, fairly cheap.

The attached picture has one in it, but most times I stack two high. Hope this helps!
