In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Incubator I made today

thermal mass...

The water bottles provide thermal mass. It's even better of you fill them with vegetable oil, but that's overkill, IMO. It stablizes and more efficiently distributes heat around the incubator.

sorry....

Sorry for the redundant post. When I read this thread only 1 page showed up which is where people were still asking about the bottles. Then I posted and five pages showed up, all full of answers.

Oh well.

would filling the bottles with sand or dirt work just as well or better then a liquid for holding heat? I've not done any test but it would seem that the more dense the substance, the slower it would be to cool. there would also be no worry about leakage or electrocution either. just a thought.

Would Lava rock work as well? Won't be wet so no worries about water screwing up the heating element.

The pizza stone thing is an excellent idea...hmmmmm I dont knwo about lava rock... I would think it woudl burn you while your trying to get it:)

I'm sure the lava rock used in the bottom of gas grills would be excellent. They essentially do the same thing in a grill as bottles of water do in an incubator. And you're right, they would be safer.

Another option is the type of brick you see in backyard fire pits.

The more I think about it the more I think I'll use one of these choices in my next incubator.

A good PROPORTIONAL thermostat is a must with one of these. I made one for my eggs this spring and it worked great. Now I need to make something bigger in anticipation of next season, since I'm hoping for eggs from 3-5X as many females...maybe another cooler in addition to whatever else I try. One hint - keep the thermostat probe on the outside of the egg containers if you are opening the cooler semiregularly (I opened it every 1-2 days to circulate air, since I didn't have a suitable fan)...that will reduce/prevent temperature spikes when it is heating back up.

Hi How You Doing I'm Looking For Incubators For My Gtp Projects Do You Sell Them And How Much Let Me Get Your Number If You Do Sell Them

Cooler incubators are great, right up until you open them to check on the eggs. In a matter of seconds, the temps inside will take a dramatic swing downwards. Only way I would ever uise one of those is on it's side. I have yet to see someone doing it that way, though.

that's why you have the water bottles on the bottom - the added thermal mass does alot to stabilize temperatures. When I used mine (in a 70 degree room), I opened it every other day to circulate air - with temp loss of less than 2 degrees. The most I ever experienced was 5 degrees, when I was rearranging/adding boxes, and that was very short lived.
