    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Incubator Problems...

JayDog-
are you sure that the Brookstone's model is measuring the humidity at the probe, and not the base? The blurb says it measures indoor humidity, which leads me to believe it's not at the probe end.

hmmmmmmmmmm daan i dont know what to say you should not be getting that much difference between the incubator and inside the incubation container.... only thing i can think of is maybe your thermometer is off... go to tempguns.com and buy a PE-1 or PE-2 infared temp gun or go and buy a raytek from beanfarm... the rayteks are much more accurate than the PE models but they are usually +/- 2-3 degrees and raytek being +/- 1 or less degree

Actually, now I'm not sure about the humidity reader. I assummed that it read both in and out becuase when ever I changed in\out, the humidity reading would change. I'll check it out this weekend.

Robin, you suggested to connect my hovabator to a thermostat to help control the temp fluctuations. Unfurtonatly for me it hasn't been doing that. It still fluctuates within 8 degrees. Yesterdays high and low was 88 - 80. I'd be afraid to put eggs in there (if i ever get eggs this year). I live in an old Boston apartment where I have no control over the heat, it just comes on whenever. I'm wondering if the extreme temp changes are too much for even a thermostat. I'm using an on\off "Alife" brand. Do you think changing to a proportional one would work better?

You don't necessarily need a proportional although it will work. You just need a good quality DIGITAL thermostat, proportional or on/off. The Alife is analog and will not hold tight temps. It should not be used on an incubator. The Johnson thermostat Robin bought will work well and hold temps with in 1f. Fluctuations in your apartment temp will not affect it.

Robin is currently testing one out on an incubator, I'm sure she will let you know how it's working.
