In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I need to sale my 12 foot indian python...I need an idea on how much I can get for her. She is very sweet and eats 2 genie pigs every 2 weeks. She rooms around the house and will sleep with you if she gets to cold. She had never wrapped around me while I was sleeping she just laid next to me.

Wow!!! A couple of things. First, if this is a true Indian Python (and not an intergrade with another animal such as a Burmese or a Ceylonese) it cannot be shipped across state lines as they are CITES I animals, that is highly endangered and trade is strictly regulated. Second, just because she has never tried to constrict does not mean that she will not. A 12 foot Indian Python is big enough and strong enough to do serious harm to a person. They have small brains and if they are hungry and you smell like food you could be in for trouble.

Do you have a picture of this Indian ??????? Jim are you sure about needing Cites for this Species ???

You definately need a permit to ship across state line if it is a TRUE Indian python. I ran into this problem when I bought mine.

Oh I'm not doubting you I'm just curious when this came about I had 2 Geniune(sp) Indians a couple of years ago that I bought From a guy out in Cali who shipped them to me ........see you cant go to sleep at night they change the rules on you

Her pigs not mine.

 My bad ......At 12' mine were eating 2 suckling pigs or 2 large rabbits 2 guinea pigs aint nothing but an appertiser(sp) I'd really like to see pictures of this snake... :dgrin:

Bill,

If it is 100% P. m. molurus and has not been crossed with bivittatus or pimbura then it is an Appendix I animal and cannot be shipped across state lines without appropriate documentation.

Attached (I hope) is a screen shot from today from CITES site. Appendix I animals are in the first column, in red, Appendix II animals are the second column in green, and Appendix III animals are in the third column, in blue.

Well, it's attached but hardly readable. But it's there.

Here's a zoomed in version:

I haven't been able to find any kind of documentation showing it written that they cannot cross state lines. They may not be imported/exported from the country, but I can't see why it can't be transported WITHIN the country...

Do you have any documentation to show this? I'd like to know since we will be breeding Argentine boas.

CITES has nothing to do with it, it is a listed endangered species, and requires a USDI CBWP if it is sold across state lines.
Correct me if I am wrong, but it is listed as endangered because it is CITES I, no?

In any event, Prehistoric Pets has had them listed on their site for some time and they are marked "California Sales Only". When I inquired they told me they are CITES I and that is why. I based my information on that.

Either way, they cannot be sold across state lines without paperwork. And I daresay that isn't going to happen here. Caveat emptor.

They are CITES one, but so are alot of other things (like Pyxis spp.), and they are allowed across state lines without permits. CITES only governs animals internationally, not within the nantion. Now it just so happens that most CITES I animals are also considered an endangered species by the gov. Due to the laws of endangered species, most exotic endangered species (there are exceptions) require a USDI CBWP (captive bred wildlife permit) to send them across state lines. Now if you wish to send them internationally, that's where CITES permits come in. It doesn't surprize me that the majority of hobbyists have no idea when it comes to national and international laws. I mean, if you look at the Lacey Act, all knob-tials, fly-river turtles, bearded dragons, etc. are illegal without a doubt. As for Prehistoric Pets, the've told people in the past a USDI CBWP was not needed as all the Indian Pythons were hybrids from a bloodline mixing long ago (very likely). I guess they keep changing their opinion.

Justyn,

Thanks for educating me. As I said I was repeating what I was told.

These screen shots are from PHP's web site today. At least they appear to be complying with that law.

I know that I am jumping into this late, but I just wanted to confirm that a federal permit (USDI) is required for interstate transport of CITES I animals. that means if you were to visit an out-of-state breeder/dealer's facilities (while on vacation, perhaps), or attend a nearby state's reptile show, you could purchase a CITES I animal...you just can't legally get it home. In addition, some states (like dear ol' NY) have their own regulations pertaining to endangered species. some people don't concern themselves with such things, but I wouldn't want to be the one that got caught.

Here is a pic of her...
