just thoughts..

I've not purchased anything from this outfit. But only made a few observations.
Seems he buys balls from this site, waits a day or two, and then re-lists them here and on KS.
Not saying anything is wrong with that. This is America, and with free enterprise and such, it's legal.
I just find it kind of funny, that he buys and sells on the same site, selling the same animals he just purchased.

More power to him.

I am just wondering who his customers are? Don't they see the same animals listed for sale like he does?
America, you got to love it.

1. Mr. Light posts ads looking for het albino balls, then the very same day posts other ads that say hes selling his "last" hets.

2. Mr. Trunk shipped to me on or about 10/12/02 2 adult female P. Regius. These animals were stated to be CBB healthy adult females.
These animals were piad for nearly 4 weeks prior to shipping even though I NEXT DAY AIRED THE M.O. to him on or about 9/19/02.
The animals arrived here in WI where the temps were 35-50 degrees with NO HEAT PACKS in a box that was barely large enough for the 2 animals. The box was so small, if either animal was slightly larger, they would not have fit. There was also no padding or insulation. Both animals seemed to warm up well which surprised the hell out of me.
About 11 days later while I was hunting 300 miles from my home, I recieved a phonecall from my girlfriend and she stated that "one of the big girls in quarintine is thrashing about and cannot right herself". I immediatly drove home to see what was the matter. Upon arrival, I witnessed an animal with severe problems. Well after a half hour of trying to decide what was wrong, I headed to a 24 hr emergancy Vet in Milwaukee WI (almost 2 hours away).
I wound up spending near $400 to have the animal put down as it was diagnosed with IBD.

Basically I spent over $1000 for 1 adult female ball that looked/acted like a WC animal.

All in all, even though it was 2 years ago, I will NEVER even think about giving this kid a penny for any animal, nor even allow ANY of his animals to end up in my collection.

If need be, I believe I still have the original ad placed here on Fauna, and the vet bills.

Inquiry on Myself: John Light of Pristine Pythons

I got a call from one of my customers. They weren’t real happy with me. Infact I was threatend over the phone. Supposedly there are a lot of rumors going around that I’m a scam artist. I personally have not heard these rumors or I would of already set them straight. First off, I’ve only sold baby hets. I do have 1 het albino adult female that’s my partners and we are still working out a deal with that animal. How can you call someone a scam artist when it takes 2 years to prove out a het animal?! Until you prove other wise I am completely legit and intend to stay legit! Every het animal I’ve sold is what it was sold as, a het! I have had 0 problems with anyone but this customer. I have been late on sending a few packages out and communication on my part wasn’t as good as it should have been. I’m going to be changing the way I do business, for the better! I am very new to the market and I'm still learning. I have been selling reptiles for a few years but on a very small scale. As far as I know everyone else has been very happy with his or her transactions besides this one guy. I’m just trying to put this to rest as I’ve built up a pretty good rep (or atleast I thought I had) in which I intend to keep. I am not a scam artist. I do have references. Please confront the person in which the rumor is about instead of passing wrong information! Do not jump to Conclusions! If you have any questions feel free to post them here or e-mail me directly. If that’s not enough give me a call and talk to me in person! I love these animals and I'm in this hobby for good!

To set a few things straight:

My shipping methods will be perfected. I'll take 100% blaim for this!

I have never sold a c.b.b. ball as w.c.! Knowingly

I have never sold an unhealthy animal as healthy! Knowingly

Yes I wanted to buy up as many hets as possable. I've actually taken a turn and decided to step up my investment.

I had some breeding loans going on in which I was unable to get enough females for. I have nothing to breed these girls to so I intended to move them. People do buy wholesale and sell for retail. If someone offers me more why not take it?

I didn't mean to step on your toes.
I just find it odd that you contact/email/telephone a person who has an ad up selling female balls, buy them, and within three days or so, post those animals for sale, saying you didn't need them. Once, ok, twice, I itch my head, more times... well, you must just like to wheel and deal. Like my first post said, nothing wrong with that. If people want to buy an animal you had in your hands for only a few days, then I say, go for it.
Me personally, I like to know the history of the animals I buy.
But that is just me. There are alot of folks who could care less if their animal is a Wild Caught, Captive Born or an Unknown. They think they can breed anything they get their hands on, and then cry when it doesn't come to pass.

I do have one question..

Why was I never Notified the animal was not in good health and you had to put the animal down? I now know why you dislike me. If I would have known about this I could of done something about it. Full refund if you will.

I have brokered animals all my life. I intend to actually breed my own animals next season and give up brokering all together. LOL you should talk with a few of my friends. I do change my mind alot in what I want to do. One minute I may be buying (or trying to get ahold of) 10 ball pythons. The next minute I want to move them and get something else. That's the main reason I've been brokering as I haven't stuck with anything for a long period of time. Just to clear up some things.

I can personally vouch for that last fact! John isn't known to be the kind that really sticks with something for very long (but 2 or 3 days! that's gotta be a record!). However, I've also never known John to scam anyone. I've known John through the 'net now for well over a year, not sure exactly how long. I've helped him out here and there, and he paid me back last week by trading a friend and I an adult female normal bp for 1.1 juvenile het albino bps. Knowing this was an amazing deal, I jumped on it. There were numerous delays, and the snakes that were supposed to be shipped Monday for Tuesday arrival actually ended up being shipped Thursday for Friday arrival. I got a little upset with John over the phone and in some voicemails during this time, because afterall, I did get that big girl shipped the very day I said she would the week prior. However, all's well that ends well. Both hets arrived here safe and sound, in a small box but it was a decent packing job, and both have now eaten. To make up for the delay in shipping, John sent me his "holdback" animals that are each well over 200g, when at first I was going to be getting some that were closer to 100g. All in all I'd say I'm very happy with the deal.

So, in the end, I'm glad John that you're going to rethink some of your policies and whom you let help you in your deals. You certainly don't want to delay people's animals when they've spent major cash with you on some of the morphs you're planning to produce.

Like I said I'm very new to the business aspect of this. I recently took a MUCH bigger bite then I could chew! I've actually slowed WAY down and don't have anything else for sale. I won't be selling anything else untill I sit back and rethink how I'm going to do this. It really isn't as easy as it looks on a larger scale! From now on everything I say will be set in stone no matter what the outcome! If I say something will be shipped out on such and such date it will be shipped out! I'm 19yrs old, work a full time job (40hrs), go to school full time, and I'm trying to do this on this side. Still no excuse! I'm not perfect, I'll be the first to say. I am trying my best! I do represent my animals correctly. As I said in a previous post I will no longer be brokering animals! I won't have anything available for awhile as like I said before I need to rethink how I'm going to do this.

First John....you are a good kid...but you confuse the hell out of yourself often....lol

But l really don't know how you know for sure that the hets you are selling are true hets. You are buying animals and selling them before you even receive the animals...using others pictures in your ads presenting a false picture of your own business (as in it looks like you've been doing this a long time and produce your own animals) Just because you were sold "hets" and you want to be legit....doesn't mean that the person before you was....and when something doesn't prove out....you get stuck with the blame because you "guarantee" the animals....
If you really plan on going "large scale" as you say...most of the animals you've sold (large females) you will absolutely need if you plan on becoming more than what you are.
You are going from one thing to the next without even thinking, and I'm sure once you get scammed you will slow down...but I hope it doesn't come to that to make you realize you need to slow down...take a breath....and commit to something. I have yet to see you do that once in the time that I've met you.

What can I say?

That's why I broker animals. I never have to make my mind up on whatever I want to keep at any given time. Along with my partner we've invested alot of money to get some high end animals and we will be producing quite a few this season. I have not produced any of the hets I've sold. The breeder that did produce the hets is a friend of my partners. That's why I'm willing to guarantee them. If they don't prove out it does fall upon me and I will make things right. As far as brokering goes it looks to be a thing of the past. I'm not going to risk my rep anymore as I can see now it's not worth it. The animal Al had must of had I.B.D before he got it in his hands. Infact the animal most likely had it before I had it as it doesn't develope over night. I do wish I would of been given the chance to make things right there. Well there is my entire story. Judge me as you will, things will be different from here in on out!

But after reading your posts, I take it your still in school? You 15, 16 years old? Your actions are that of a teen ager who doesn't know quite yet what he wants to do and how to do it.
Nothing wrong with that per se, but most people would like to know the person they are dealing with is within legal age limits to actually be responsible for his/her actions. Someone under 18 can always say, Hey, I'm a kid, I can't be held accountable for my actions. Believe me, I've gone down that path more then once.

John, you were not notified about the ill animal you sent me because at that time I wanted to tear your head off. I was so pissed I bought from you for so many reasons.

1. HAVING AN ANIMAL DIE (the ONLY ball python I have EVER had pass in the 9 years I have been keeping them)

2. over a month to get the animals. In that months time, I called over 8 times and talked to you and your rude father.

3. not only did it take a month to get them, but I dumped extra cash to next day the M.O. to you. The M.O. was cashed within 24 hrs after you got it, but you DIDN'T ship me MY animals.

4. my cat could have shipped them better. that box was STUFFED with the 2 snakes, no padding, no insulation, NO HEAT PACKS WHEN I TOLD YOU IT WAS IN THE 30's HERE.

5. missing deer hunting which I wait for each and every season.

6. VET BILLS.

7. they both seemed in many ways to be WC. both were jumpy, very timid, scarred, and the one that lived would only take gerbils for months.

Maybe at the time I should have called you and demended a refund, but I still remember YOUR DAD telling me that they will be shipped WHEN THEY ARE SHIPPED. This is after numerous phone calls and informing him that these animals were to be shipped THE VERY NEXT DAY AFTER THE M.O. GOT THERE.

I seen the thread and stated 100% of the info I still had and could remember from our deal. I even stated it was 2 years ago. And I hope you realize that these ARE LIVING ANIMALS and you need to treat them as such. Even after two years passed, I'm still kinda pissed over loosing an animal after all that I went through to get it and keep it alive.
