In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

So ive been really making things harder for myself with the thermometer thing. I have 6 enclosures....... And only 3 thermometers.ive been switching them around to get the temps. Wtf happened to the rest...i have no idea. but they were there at one point. probly lost over many rushed cleaning days.

Anyways.

I figure screw going and buying a bunch of thermometers that im not even gonna trust 100%. and i ask you guys, whats a good brand of a infrared temp guns? and whats a good affordable digital hygrometer? for some reason i just dont trust analog meters.

i got my hand held infrared temp gun from home depot for like $30 works great for me seems to be spot on when i tested it a few times its a ryobi cw1050 i house bearded dragons so i dont really need humidity so i wouldnt know about those i just have a few of the zoo med temp/humidity things just as a 2nd look and to make sure the humidity isnt over 20%

I've got a Raytek MT-4, and highly recommend it. I've been using this one for about 8 yrs, now....the only other one I've had was the PE-2 (from ProExotics), which I sold for a while. The PE-2 wasn't bad for it's price range, but I always liked my MT-4 better. (*note - I had the older version of the PE-2...I think the newer version is a bit better in some capacities, in addition to not requiring the watch type batteries) IMO, one should compare specs before deciding - particularly the D:S, and accuracy.

I haven't used the Reptile Basics models, but I would feel comfortable recommending them, as well. Keep in mind that you don't have to purchase a temp gun that is marketed specifically for reptiles...there are a wide variety of brands available now, from local and online sources. There's a lot of crap out there, though; so do some investigating before your purchase.

I use the super cheap cen ten units from Harbor freight. Their accuracy range is enough for any basking site or enclosure usage.

Same here.

Love my Rayteks.

I keep one in my snake building, one in the car, and one in the house.

They are awesome and very reliable.

I use an MT250. It cost me $20 at Frys Electronics, fits on a key-chain, and was giving me the same temperatures as the $200 demos at the store.
