In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

(Inguiry)Rare Pythons

At first I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he was just new to this and trying to get started breeding BP's.

Now, I think he is someone not to trust and there will probably be BOI threads about fake hets and misrepresented animals from this guy in the future.

Geeze.. claims to have 1,500+ eggs of "regular" balls that will be hatching in April. And since when are albinos considered to be "rare".

"However, in terms of ball python morphs our prices are very low."

I'd like to know what is so special about the $12,000 bumblebees he supposedly has.. are they like gold plated or something compared to the less expensive ($1k) individuals ? And the $10,000 pieds?

"How Many Offspring Do You Produce Annually?
It depends on the season but roughly 1,000-2,000 babies per year."

If I remember rightly they only just started this business up at the end of last year and haven't produced a damn thing as of yet (beyond their own claim of 200 wild caught imports supposedly laying large perfect clutches of eggs for them), how can they hold a straight face when making the above claim.
He must be toting off the stuff from his grow sheds

I was just thinking about this dufus the other day, browsing through KS ads. Remember when he didn't believe that we could possibly be telling the truth about people selling CH babies for under $20 each, it simply wasn't possible? I wonder if he's swallowing his gum seeing the ads starting to pop up on KS for like $8 apiece now....LOL.

And dang, that pic of the little scrawny albino male on his site, together with the bigger female....does he think that's going to get him any sales??? That's just sad.

His current site isn't any more honest than the last one, other than maybe he has permission to use the pics of the snakes on it this time.....maybe.

Now Cathy if you note his ball pythons are RARE and marked for their special traits  .I bet he will not even reply here since he knows he is full of it :shootfoot

Let's see, albino, bumble, pastel, and pied. Yeah. Quite the RARE and exotic collection.

Pastel Ball Pythons

All Pythons Below Are CURRENTLY Available!

Contact us, as we have access to many of Pastels not listed below. If you tell us your price range and what specific traits your looking for, we will check our inventory or find it for you!

No listing. Damn, he must have so many he can't even find time to list even one up for sale. Same goes for regular, pied, bumble, and albino listings.

Each of the reptiles in our breeding program are carefully tracked to ensure proper genetic tracking for rare traits. We have an assortment of rare and exotic ball pythons.
What paperwork comes with my purchase?

You will receive paperwork which will show the genetic tree of your ball python in full detail. It will include a picture of your snake and it's parents if they are captive bred.

That is going to be a very SHORT genetic tree. Sold: 1 regular exotic bp from wild caught imported female of unknown parentage (father also unknown). And since neither the baby nor the mommy were "captive bred" there won't be any photos to accompany your paperwork I'm afraid.

We believe in safe and healthy breeding conditions that encourage natural behavior in our reptiles. Often we see reptiles bred in unhealthy and cramped conditions. We want all of customers to feel 100% satisfied. We know satisfied customers are return customers, and we strive to offer the best snake breeding services available.

Since when is a sweater box rack anything like the natural outdoors that will encourage natural behavior ? He's disses other breeders by claiming their animals are kept in cramped and unhealthy conditions, so then why is he following the same mass breeding rack strategy as those he is dissing?

He claimed in this thread that he owned a Pied, bumblebee and that albino female.

I still don't know how he intends to find the paperwork for the WC females... ?

As to the other morphs, maybe he'll luck out with some crazy morph from those WC females and put us all out of business.

Why fluorescent?

Why GFP? Why inject a python egg with GFP? What is he really selling?

Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP)

Green Fluorescent Protein in Retroviral Vector Constructs as Marker and Reporter of Gene Expression for Cell and Gene Therapy Applications

I wonder what he's going to do with those eggs and pythons?

Farkas, S. L., Z. Zádori, M. Benkõ, S. Essbauer, B. Harrach, and P. Tijssen. 2004. A parvovirus isolated from royal python (Python regius) is a member of the genus Dependovirus. J. Gen. Virol. 85:555-561.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14993638
Parvoviruses were isolated from Python regius and Boa constrictor snakes and propagated in viper heart (VH-2) and iguana heart (IgH-2) cells. The full-length genome of a snake parvovirus was cloned and both strands were sequenced. The organization of the 4432-nt-long genome was found to be typical of parvoviruses. This genome was flanked by inverted terminal repeats (ITRs) of 154 nt, containing 122 nt terminal hairpins and contained two large open reading frames, encoding the non-structural and structural proteins. Genes of this new parvovirus were most similar to those from waterfowl parvoviruses and from adeno-associated viruses (AAVs), albeit to a relatively low degree and with some organizational differences. The structure of its ITRs also closely resembled those of AAVs. Based on these data, we propose to classify this virus, the first serpentine parvovirus to be identified, as serpentine adeno-associated virus (SAAV) in the genus Dependovirus.

I haven't yet found anything concerning Retro viruses and ball pythons, but I'm sure it's out there. Just gotta know where to look.

Sorry for bumping this back up every now and again people... this whole mystery behind his genetic research just itches bad once in a while and I feel the need to post. I'll crawl over there and ponder.... ---->

The whole thing looks cheesy... I would be reluctant to purchase any scientific products from this guy

Hey All,

I just saw this thread and jumped on here to look around. And I have to comment on the pictures. posted here.

MY Background:
I am a biological scientist for the University of Florida, Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, for the Harfe Lab. I work on the development end, but am around many people using viruses as vectors for gene transmission.

NO WAY IN HELL is he doing any research in a facilty with pink insulation and wood 2x4 studs uncovered in the wall. This is rediculous

On the gfp question, very simplified- we link gf, yfp, and efp to targeted segments of dna so we can visually see where the protien is going and when it is turned on in reference to what we linked it to.

I can't spend time reading this all today as I am getting ready for a show, but he is definately trying to perpetrate a fraud in those pics.

thanks

Retrovirial and lentvirial vectors are used to deliver a gene such as a GFP gene. We use GFPs as a reporter gene; for example, if a researcher wants to put a gene associated with disease into an animal model or a cell line, they use a GFP in a viral vector (with a promoter) and the gene of interest and look for a glowing animal or glowing cells, which should express the target gene. These are research techniques and not for the general public, so I think he was pretty much trying to BS everyone. Again, he can not get these products without a PhD and a position in a research lab.

I am sure in his own mind he wanted to create a glowing snake like some of the transgenic animals on the market. Researchers have created fish that have GFPs in them originally for detection of pollution but now they are sold commonly( I think some pet stores are carrying glowfish). I think they have also created frogs and quite a few other animal models with GFPs in them. Again, researchers created these animal models with the intent to identify water pollution and other biomedical research.

That's the gist of what I read earlier about it. So was he really just trying to BS? Or is he actually injecting those snake eggs with something. That's what I want to know... isn't their something in place to monitor what is done with animals in a research setting?

On to other news.... He's moved apparently. March 11, 2008:

It looks like the garage that the rare python institute is housed in needs more room what a joke...

I also question why he still has all those examples of morphs up when he clearly doesn't have the means to create them with normals and his limited visuals he owns.

To littleindian

yes there are tons of hoops to jump through to get a research protocol approved for animal usage. There are federal/national level agencies and associations that approve universities and companies, then there are the funding agencies own protocols, then certifications/training mandates at the researcher level.

If you use me for example: UF's animal use policy is governed by AAAlas, then the protocols I am approved on by Iucac, then I am certified in a half a different classes from animal handling to chem waste safety, taught by the corresponding departments or safety offices. These are all monitored very closely by a transparent papertrail and are done yearly or quarterly.

thanks

In support of Ben, we also have to go through a long and drawn out process to use animals in research. The use of reptiles is less stringent that for mammals but not an easy or fast process at all. A researcher must accurately explain and justify to the IACUC why a live animal model or animal products must be used instead of an in vitro system. All of this info is available from the National Research Council and published in their "Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals". In addition, the hood in his photo is far from a bio safety level 2 lab hood, which is require for this type of research solely on the basis of the viral vectors that he is claiming to use. Lastly, very few ethical researchers would allow a photo of something like that to be published online...this stuff is very controversial and very few researchers want to stir up the crazies at PETA or other extreme animal rights groups. This guy is full of crap!
Have a good weekend all

Like I said before, he has a syringe full of psilocybin spores and a hood for just that. Nothing more. Maybe he's trying to make a snake that craps mycillium or something. :)
