Chris, first off I'd like to welcome to the Herp community! I'd thought I'd give you some insight into the way thing work and the why thing happen. You could've probably started selling any other snake and all would've been fine, but you chose Ball pythons and the Ball community is a almost a "Brotherhood of the Balls" sort of speak and they don't let anyone in just like that, especially serious competition!
Here is a bit of history; you may have not noticed that for the past 8yrs the Ball morph business has been made up of breeders selling to breeders. Supply was low, demand was high, prices were high. In 2006 this breeder to breeder market came to a crash when supply surpassed demand and prices came crashing down, HARD! Snakes that sold for $25,000 were now selling for under $10,000 and going down by the $100's and $1000's every month, some losing as much as 90% of their value in less than 1yr! This left the "investors" or as some call them now "Suckers" needless to say, very pissed off!
From 2006-2007 there were a lot of pissed off people in the Ball community! Right now, prices seem to be settling, with lower prices, the market has opened up to new "actual" customers that are buying Balls for the joy of owning the snake and not making Millions in one clutch! This still has some breeders guarding what they have and any new Ball breeder is looked at as the enemy! In this time, you are either a buyer or competition and as a breeder, when you stop buying from them, you are automatically viewed as the enemy!
This whole thread and forum as many forums out there "Especially with regards to Ball Pythons" are there for the sole purpose to promote certain breeders or friends and more importantly, trash the competition! Notice how 9 out of 10 bad guy threads on the BOI are with regards to Ball Pythons? These guys are in it for blood! If you are not one of them, you are against them! Once they set you in their targets, they will drive it home and keep driving until they trash your name in every internet site in hopes they will damage any shot you have of sales and competing!
The only way to get in the Ball community is to buy your way in to where breeders you bought from will vouch for you, and that only last as long as you are buying from them! The minute you stop buying and start selling, all bets are off! Or to just remain under the radar as much as possible, weather through the BS and give it time!
As we've all seen since 2006, these people have become more and more ruthless! Just trashing your name isn't enough, they will get your banned from every forum or venue used to sell your snakes, shows, Kingsnake, you name it! This thread has nothing to do with you personally, it has to do with the fact that you pose the ability to be a serious seller and they do not like that coming into their circle! If you had picked any other snake, you would be welcomed with open arms! But, when you are dealing with the Ball community, everyone has issues! Replying to that thread is pointless no matter what you do, say or post or prove.
Your best bet is to walk away as this is a fight you can't win on their turf…. You can absolutely make money doing what you're doing, and that is the problem! They want to keep that $$$ in their pockets and will do anything to pursued you otherwise and when they can't pursued you, they will trash you!
As you read with that whole Chris Johnson (TSE) thread, these same people ripping him now, were friends and vouching for him during that early period! Not to mention ripping up anyone who complained early on! If this guy ripped of 1-2-3 people, those victims would have been discredited by Chris supporters! It wasn't until the numbers of those who complained became overwhelming and it was clear something was up, that then those supporters took a step back!
Anyways, whether you are legit or not, this is the norm when dealing with the Ball python community!! I as many many others, got into Ball pythons, loved them, enjoyed them, wanted to buy more, but after a few weeks watching these types of wars and bogus online BS, we sold off our Ball pythons and just wanted no part of it! In my opinion, it's actions like these that turn new customer and newbies to the hobby away and not just trash the competition!
