Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

you have to understand that we are very close to each other probly like 8 hour drive. and for it to be shipped ground woulld actualy be safer due to the package staying in florida, and not being tossed around airporrts up north. if the package was not brought to fedex after there cut off for sending out shipments then they in fact would have been shipped wendesday and recived on thursday. does that make things clearer for you? and i did not demand anything i simply requested he look into ether usps or even shipping ground , due to the shipping cost he was asking was 40 dollars. i hope this clears things up for you better

Vince,

If the package had been shipped Overnight Express he could have gotten to the Fed ex in Orlando as late as 5:45 pm and it still would have gone out overnight and arrived Thursday. It does not matter if it is staying in Florida or going to Washington state the packages must be shipped overnight express. Also if you do not like the price someone is charging on the shipping them don't purchase the animal or drive to them. Even if I am shipping from my location Palm Bay on the east coast to Orlando or surrounding areas (a 1-2 hour drive away) I always ship express. For in state packages I only chare $20-$25 and not my normal shipping rate but that is the only way to ship the animals the safest and legal route. If that package had been shipped express it would have arrived by 10 am on Thursday and not 6+ pm on Friday.

alright, thanks for the info , take care buddy boy,

Vince, it is this kind of attitude that got you in trouble. The term "buddy boy" is derogatory and disrespectful... Rob is a man who has been working with these animals longer than your wise cracking ignorant little self has been alive, he's upstanding, honest and just generally an all around respectable individual.

He was trying to help you and this is the kind of response he gets?

Do you think that kind of conduct directed towards an individual as well known and respected as Rob is will be of some kind of benefit to you? There are already people who will never deal with you, as a buyer or a seller because of your craptacular manner of handling yourself and I'm willing to bet that you just added a few more to that list.

I suppose now it's time for another profanity filled tirade and some childish temper tantrums because life didn't go exactly as you had planned it... I personally suggest that you get out of herps, get off these boards, take a few years to grow up and then maybe come back when nobody remembers you.

You know I should have know better then to post a responce on this thread before it sat a few days. But I figured I would try and be nice and say what we all knew Vince wanted to hear, and still could be true, but now I want to wait on my opinion till the seller speaks up.

Now if Vince had them sent ground, non priority, or whatever, and the seller told him "ok, but no guruantees" well then Vince has no leg to stand on.

However if Vince had them sent ground (and I agree Rob, very bad, or dumb, maybe even say cruel idea) but the seller never said no guruantees, then its different, allthough still stupid on vinces part.

You know this is half the reason we are haveing a hard time getting the shippers to take us seriously. People both parties, BUYER AND SELLER, SCREWED UP HERE.

1st the Seller should have REFUSED to ship ground PERIOD. No matter in state or not, still a bad idea.

2nd the buyer should have NOT TRIED TO SAVE 20$ at the risk of harm to the animals. Thats irresponsible PERIOD.

Vince, you come off as dual personality or something. One second your calling a guy a bad guy, the next minute a good guy. Its obvious you will never learn, and as such you are still a DANGER to anyone you do business with.

You made very valid points Mickey.

1st the Seller should have REFUSED to ship ground PERIOD. No matter in state or not, still a bad idea.

The last word should be the seller's. After all he is the one that makes the final decision if it is safe to ship or not. Furthermore, it's in his own interest as he is the one that has to replace an animal if something like this happens.

2nd the buyer should have NOT TRIED TO SAVE 20$ at the risk of harm to the animals. Thats irresponsible PERIOD.

Agreed. The shipment has to be discussed and agreed upon in advance. Again, if the seller doesn't feel comfortable with the request he should voice his opinion to the buyer. Once payment has been received, it's the seller who has the power to call it off at anytime, if the conditions of minimum safey for the animals are not met.

Regards.

are you serius? i think you personal feeling towards me have clouded you judgements, i didnt meen it in a derogatory or disrespectful was, sorry if you took it that way buddy.

I still think that the ground shipping in no way affected the out come or safty of the lizards, i now know it is not legeal something i wish me and the seller knew b4 hand. and i never once called him a bad guy. never thought he was a bad guy. these things happen. i was just posting as i would if everything went fine. i still belive that the ground shipping was the safest method for our situation, once again if i knew it wasnt within the law to do so I would of never recomended it. the geckos got here as fast if not faster if they where shipped overnight airborn. with all due respect i belive some of you still hold personal feeling towards me, everyone is comeing after me , and over looking the fact that i recived lizards that i did not pay for , and a doa. the female that was doa was most likey full of eggs, due to the fact that the other female laid a clutch the night i got them here. that is just how i feel tho, never ment to offend any one at all, the post about me disrespecting someone by calling them "buddy boy" i call my little brother that all the time. and i thanked rob every time he gave me some advice, or pointed something out .rob, i hope you seen it for what is was not as something bad, i dont understand why everyone things that this ground shipping was such a horable idea. it saved me $30 dollars, and was quick . its not like he ground shipped from across the us. it was shipped on a truck over night from one city to an other. but i will never use it again becuse of the laws. i dunno tho. i hope you fellas dont hold past descetions against me. and as for going away untill people forget who i am , i have already done a few more good deals, and have more in the works. well take care everyone, and seamus sorry if this wasnt the off the way crazyness you expected.

Vince

Ok, Im not going to be mean about this, and I dont think I have been, but I will point out a couple more things.

First Rob is a grown man, not your little brother. He also is a ex law enforcement officer, and as such likely feels being called buddy boy, or things of that nature are disrespectfull to say the least. In the future I would suggest you keep to addressing people you are not on a personal basis with by their names, it would save from situations like this, just a tip.

As for not calling him fyb a bad guy, you did post this on the first day after recieving them

"the Doa has been dead for a few days , I can tell this due to the really bad smell."

Thats accusing him if nothing else of shipping a DEAD animal on purpose.

I would still like to hear the other side of this story, as I do agree had this thread happened to someone other then Vince, we MAY be a little more aggressive towards the seller. However I also came across a statement early on in the theread just now when I looked back for the quote about the one being dead for days.

You said at the bottom of a thread, after your signature, like it was a quote or something, and I must have missed it till today

"I knew they had skinny tails b4" or something to that nature. That does make me really wonder just what the REAL DEAL was on this deal from the beggining.

When you started this inquery you stated

"I am considering buying a really NICE group of fat tails from him"

I wouldnt call buying animals with known skinny tails "buying a rally nice group". Instead I would say that buying B grade animals, if the buyer knows up front Then it sounds like you tried to save again by shorting on shipping costs.

Might I suggest in the future you do all of your purchases in person. You live in FLORIDA for christ sakes man. Half the country buys animals from your state, you live there. Take the effort to go get them, even if you have to drive.

For a little background, I used to drive 27 hours EACH WAY 4-6 times a year to do reptile shows in Florida. If I was willing to do that, dont you think if you REALLY want some NICE animals you would take it upon yourself to do a little leg work and track down your animals in person. You live in the perfect place to do it. You have more shows that guns in that state, and thats saying something for a souther state. You have importers, exporters, and pet shops all over, and you still have to mail order FAT TAIL GECKOS??????????????????

Sorry about the typos...and this should have said

"You have more shows then guns in that state, and thats saying something for a southern state."

Ive got fat fingers tonight or something....lol.

hey micky thanks for aporching this is a non hostial way, listin tho i was not trying to say that rob was like my little brother, it was just a friendy greating like thanks alot pal, or take it easy bro. i guess when its in type it can be taken the wrong way. I thought they where really nice, i guess some would call them B grade. but in the pic he sent me they all looked nice. just a little skinny in the tails, but they were fresh imports and been here only a week or so. when we taked ( me and fyb exotics) we had a few other deals on the table as well , I have been reciveing and sending reptiles threw mail and havent had a problem as of yet.

on the other point, where i said i thought the gecko may have been dead for a few days becuse of the smell, rob kindly pointed out that WC fattails give off a strong oder as soon as an hour after passing. something i was not aware of.

the origanle deal was for 1 male 4 female group. 115 shipped .

i recived 3 males 1 female and one DOA female. I was refunded for the one that has passed , and we have come to terms on the others. the one live female was gravid witch i had no knowlege about( personaly i would never buy a gravid animal threw the mail. ) and i suspect the other female was also gravid and the stress of shipping was to much for her. but i dont know, i hope this helps if there is anything else please post, lets get this wound up. as far as me and fyb , the only other bump in the road could be a possably ill male, i wrote fyb asking for some adive on how to take some special care of this guy due to the fact i have limited experence working with WCs. if any of you have any tips please let me know, he lays around a lot , hasnt eatn, but drinks a lot. fyb said these all where wormed , should i give a 2nd dose?

Well Im not gecko nut to say the least, and its been a while since Ive dosed any animals, so I wouldnt be qualified to advice on its needs.

I would suggest you get a fecal sample run on the group, should only be about 20$ and find out what you need to treat. Then from there, if it were me, I would go about it as if they had never been treated, and start them on a new round of meds, as suggest by a qualified vet, or atleast someone more qualified then I in treating parisites in geckos and herps in general (Im sure there are many good books on this also).

Untill then I would provide as good a enviroment as possible, keep them as hydrated as possible, and leave them be as much as possible to let them acclimate.

Hope that helps with them, even if its not what you want to hear.

why would you think its not what i would want to hear. really im not as big of a A-hole as you guys might think.

thanks for all the advice, im going to have a fecal sample done on monday. i have treated geckos for worms in the past and actualy have some wormer on hand. but im going to pay my vet a visit. right now i have them in seperate cages , female w/ nesting box. muti water dishes in the cages and multi hideboxs to reduce stress , im just getting the feeling they are dehydrated , the females tail has gotton bigger already.

thanks for the advice,

gnerally I have experienced when people ask for advice on care of herps, they generally want to hear ANYTHING BUT take it to the vet, so I made a assumption, sorry about that.

Sounds like your doing what you can, good luck with them and the rest of the deal.

Mickey Hinkle

VINCE, what did you expect

with imported Fat tails! Their are so many quality Fat tails on the market that are c.b. , reasonably priced and in far better condtion then what you purchased. You basically got what you asked for, but dont be surprised if they all kick the bucket. What you may want to consider in the future is to "ask the right questions before you buy" you can save alot of grief and trouble. Their is plenty of information about these geckos. But unless I am mistaken, you chose the easy way out with the freight, and you bought cheap. That combination is the unwise choice, for people who are ignorant of this hobby. Try another avocation.
