I am trying to accomplish three things with this post. First, I sold a couple snakes over at Reptibid to a person by the name of Drazil ([email protected]). Well at least I thought I did. According to the site's rules, when you bid on a product or animal, you enter a contract for a purchase that you are suppose to complete. Drazil actually bid for 3 snakes that I listed and has refused to return any of my repeated emails over the past 11 days while he/she continued to bid on other items. Does anyone know who this person is?
Second. I realize many people here perceive a purchase to not be complete until money has actually exchanged hands. Normally I would agree, except the case I have outlined above is for an eBay-like site where placing bids is suppose to bind you to the deal. I am sure many of the breeders here who sell animals have had their share of people who swear the check is in the mail, then hold an animal for the payment that never comes. For anyone reading this that wishes to back out of a deal they have made to make a purchase, I would advise them to be straight forward and tell the seller that you have changed your mind. This is much more respectful than just ignoring the seller when they call or email you wondering what is going on.
Lastly, has anyone devised a procedure to reduce the number of buyers who back out of deals and then ignore you when you try to contact them? I have gone so far as to include comments in emails like "if you have changed your mind about this purchase, please let me know", and still get no response. I hate to miss out on a sale, but often I feel like I should just give a buyer 4-5 days to come through, then just simply except that they are a deadbeat and add them to my never-will-I-sell-anything-to-this-person list.
