    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry: JSnakes, Jose Dominguez

Chances are, he knowingly shipped 2 day delivery. He did that to both myself and The woman with the Iguana. In my case I asked for and he said he would ship overnight express and instead shipped 2 day and pocketed my remaining 13.00 of shipping money. I hate to sound so negative Cheryl, but I doubt the snakes will arrive in good condition. He obviously has something to hide, or he would be contacting you with an explanation as to why you have not received them yet.
 
How do I get in these situations?

I thought I knew what I was doing. I ran an inquiry that recieved no responses and I made a point of asking not to ship USPS (Learned that last time I bought a snake and did not specifically ask NOT to ship USPS, I *THOUGHT* I had covered that this time)....guess thats when I should start to worry, the minuite I *THINK* I know what I'm doing.

So, it is now 4:45pm (PST)......their not going to get here today. Hopefully tomarrow. This is a copy of the e-mail I just sent to Jose/Jason:

Jose/Jason,
I am sure you have been to the BOI and seen that I am unhappy with the snakes having been shipped USPS. I specifically requested they NOT be sent USPS as it is illegal as well as unreliable. It is now 4:30pm (PST) and they have not arrived. Hopefully they will arrive tomarrow.

I will let you know as soon as they arrive. While I am unhappy with the shipping method, I will still photo the box and the animals and fairly represent their condition to the BOI when they arrive.

Although you ran an inquiry it was on Jose Dominguez and not Jason. How could you know? And yes, you asked not to have them delivered USPS, and they were supposed to be there overnight. What else could you have done?

What really puzzles me is that Jason and/or Jose had the "golden opportunity" of coming clean on this one. Everyone in this thread was paying attention to the outcome, and he/they knew it beforehand. He/they could have invested in "good advertising" by not sending USPS, and by delivering overnight as promised. Regrettably he/they chose not to.

I do hope the snakes make it OK tomorrow.
 
Cheryl - if you accept delivery of that box, are you knowingly engaging in a criminal act?

You have already admitted that you know it is illegal to transport snakes via the USPS.

Your acceptance of the package, knowing the contents and the legal standing, could put you in legal jeopardy.

Tough call, I know....
 
I better add more Tums to my shopping list. Don't think I will turn away the box unless it arrives sometime next week in which case I'll be pretty sure they are already dead.

Think it will make a difference if I accept the box, tell the postal worker what is in it, that I requested it NOT be sent USPS and then open the box with the postal worker?

Who am I kidding, I don't even think that would keep me out of the "criminal" category. DANMIT!

The Webslave made a good point, although from your reply I guess you have already made up your mind on what to do. If you reject the box, why do I have the feeling that you will never see the animals or your money again?

I been getting alot of emails

Asking why havent i been posting reasontly and if you would like to know ask [email protected] cause im sure the email will end up here that he/she got. I went threw the emails and realized that Cheryl did ask me not to ship USPS but when i looked at it the 1st time i thought it said UPS. I told the guy at the post office to ship over night air and he told me no problem weighted the box took my money gave me the reciept and i was out of there. He asked what was in the box and i told him, he didnt say anything to me about it being illegal. I am pissed they didnt make it yesterday and do hope they make it today.. Cheryl i realy wish you would talk to me before the BOI that is part of good business..Well im sure there will be 20 replys to this post flipping it around and makeing me look like a monster. This is the last time im posting on the boi so dont mail me asking me why im not.. You have something to say to me mail me or something if you feel like you must since i noticed most of you have nothing better to do. Jason, you are the only idiot here. Not only do you not follow through with your customers wishes, you knowingly involve them in illegal activities. You had enough time before you shipped to read the comments on this forum which expressly stated that shipping snakes through the USPS is ILLEGAL, but you did it anyway. You are the only one at fault here and while not accepting the box Cheryl may be ensuring she doesn't get a refund, on the other hand she may be ensuring she avoids a huge fine. I doubt that she will refuse the box because to most herp lovers things like that are secondary to the care of the animals. Refusing the box will almost certainly lead to the death of the snakes either directly by prolonging their shippment or by sending them back in which case you have already stated that you will simply throw the box away.

I don't know about the rest of you but this one single post from Jason launches him to the top of my people to avoid list. I can't think of anything he can do in the future to clear his name of this. Like many of you have said, he had a golden opportunity and he made a conscious choice to blow it.

The only thing I wonder about is if this Jose character is real, and if he knows what his "partner" is doing. It would be a shame if he (Jose) was in fact legitimate and Jason was doing this without his knowledge (although I find that to be about a million to one odds against)

To sum it up Jason, you are through. You will never shake this. Fifty years from now if you try to sell a snake on the internet Richie will ferret you out. He is probably training a young apprentice at this time to carry out his mission.

Not accepting an improperly shipped box....which you admitted to making a mistake.....which you admitted the mistake is on YOUR part will get her no refund..... Wow You are really turning your "business name" for the better. YOu just told your future customers that if YOU make a mistake they will get no refund. What happens if the customers make the mistake? Will they get a refund then? Or can we still expect no refund?

USPS doesn't have guaranteed next day delivery to most places anyway, so it's absolutely no suprise that the package isn't there, even if it was sent next-day air. I went through this once (hopefully for the last time) with a turtle and he was enroute for 4 days. He made it, I'm not sure that ball pythons would be so lucky. Good luck, I guess.

note how he said snake I hope just another typo. He used the USPS & we got yet another excuse from him I really think after he got his money he really doesn't care about the outcome. Besides the name he used he hasn't changed a bit. No wonder he can't go to shows without worrying about his well being oh wait, that was someone elses fault too. I really hope "they" arrive today & in good condition. Cheryl, let is know.

This is exactly how I feel. He has no regard at all for the animals he sells. Most of us really care about the health and well being of the animals we ship, Jason does not!
 
I accepted the box

I went to the post office this morning, tracked down the box, and signed for it. So now I'm a criminal and I REALLY am unhappy about that.

However~ I'm willing to accept that perhaps Jose/Jason really did mis-read my request he NOT use USPS as my requesting he not use UPS. It is not common knowledge (Except to those of us who have made reptiles an obsession!) that snakes can not be legally shipped USPS.....I know because I had to tell my mail lady that it was illegal. She didn't know.

So~ While I am extremely unhappy with my now having commited a criminal offense by accepting the box, I flet like I had to. AND~

The snakes where packaged very nicely. I will attatch pics at the end. (Not sure how to attatch more than one pic per post so I will make a couple posts) The box was clearly labeled "Live Non-venoumous Reptiles". There were airholes in the box, and styrofoam (SP?) insulation. There was no heat packs, but they were unessasary as they snakes went from Florida to Southern California, both warm areas at this time.

The snakes were exactly as described in the advertisement. In fact perhaps a bit better. The larger one was guest-a-mated at 500 grams. She is in fact 750 grams. I probed her and she probed 4 subcaudal scales on the left and 6 on the right (Thats a bit large but still within reason of being a female)

The 1.3 babies were a bit smaller than I expected, but that is my fault. The advertisement said they were "Babies" and never gave any weights or guesses at weights so if I was expecting them larger it was just what I was hoping for. The 1.3 are 62 grams, 65 grams, 59 grams and 66 grams. I was afraid to probe them as they are so small, but looking at the tail widths I would guess the male is the 66 gram one, and the others do have nice short tails. (I may take them to someone else to sex them later just so I can be sure)

All 1.4 appear to be healthy. I saw no ticks, or evidence of scale or mouth rot. I have not attempted feeding yet, will try to feed them later. I am treating them prophalactively(SP?) for mites, but I saw no evidence of mites at all.

Two of the small females were in the midst of a patchy shed, but I had been notified of that before shipment. I have soaked them and the patches came away clean.

All in all......while I am unhappy with the shipping method I am willing to accept that perhaps Jose/Jason misunderstood my direction not to use USPS (That he thought I meant not to use UPS) because the rest of the deal is exactly as described, the animals were packed well, appear to be healthy and I am pleased with them.

I think maybe Jose/Jason was/is honestly trying to make a fresh start......but made a rather stupid mistake right out of the gate. Judging by the animals I recieved today I would have to say he may not be the sharpest crayon in the box.....but I do think he is trying to be.

I really have no comment to this person. I have talked to them in AOL Reptiles Chat, but thats about it. Im glad they made it ok. Just as long as he doesnt use USPS anymore....
Once I had ordered 9 copperheads and a Timber Rattler...and someone thought it would be smart to send USPS...what could be more illegal? Maybe if you put a firearm in the bag along with them??? Anyway, it took 4-5days, but they did get here alive. The timber was gravid, and she did actually have her babies...
Also, Cheryl, where do you get a scale that measures in grams? I guess anyone can answer this really, but I dont know where to find one.
Anyway.....Good Luck with the snakes.
 
Glad to see the snakes actually arrived alive and I am wondering if they were shipped out of trying to get a clear name or due to being brought up here on the BOI.
