Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Sometimes it is principle that causes differing opinions.

Quite true, and without citing the rest of the speech, Jefferson did elaborate on his thoughts. The rules of the BOI limit the size of the signature box so more cannot be included there, but Jefferson went on to say that the problems he saw it was that too often people, and especially politicians of the time, take a difference of opinion and expand it beyond that, attacking their political opponents as being flawed in character, rather than just in disagreement. For all his high and mighty words, Jefferson was also quite the political scoundrel. The BOI is a daily example of where people, when faced with a difference of opinion, are unable to debate the message, and rather go after the messenger. IMMHO of course. This thread a perfect example.
 
Sometimes the messenger brings a message that is so flawed or wrong that showing the character or motive of the messenger is enough to allow another angle of the message to be seen where previously that angle was unavailable.

And yes Dan, I was but more in the voice of Kwai Chang Caine's old master than that of De Niro, not that I would say I am as wise as was he, just almost as old.

Expanding a tad more, Jefferson did acknowledge that principals will differ, but that even a difference in principle is far from a flaw in ethics. I guess I can only speak for myself here, but the BOI is full of snipes who first ASSume the ethical flaw in a disagreement, turning their computers into "Kung Fu keyboards" ..... just a coincidence that Kwai Chaing Caine's master was referenced, BTW.

Hence my affinity for the Willow Tree itself.

But sometimes being in the fray helps to pass the time between what really counts and fun, no matter how you slice it, is ..... fun.
