Inquiry on bearded pets?

In my case, the snakes are not what they said they were, aside from being hets, which nobody can tell. The said they were weighing in at over 220 grams, were healthy, and eating readily. Well the male is almost dead, and I will post a pic tomorrow night, as I have to download it to my computer at work. Both refuse food. The female bites. The poor male is about 70 grams and can't live much longer - pathetic looking.

when it comes to reptile related theft? How do you prove you got swindled? How do you prove that you paid for 100% hets and did not receive 100% hets? Emails are fine, but I am sure some judges will say, or believe, that someone "else" could have sent you the emails. I think as an industry, we need to draw up the criteria for a reptile related "robbery." Something like this:

1-emails from the purchase of 100% hets
2-photo id from the breeder stating 100% hets, with photo of the snake
3-breeding pic of said snake
4-clutch hatching/hatchlings from year one clutch, no homozygous animals
5-clutch hatching/hatchlings from year two clutch, with no homozygous animals

Something along these lines, that would stand up in court. Does anyone know what burden of proof is needed in court? Maybe someone with a law interest can investigate what is needed for an airtight case.

I can tell you exactly what is needed as a burden of proof - Beyond a Reasonable Doubt.

What you have outlined above is a good start in evidence collecting. The hardest part to prove is going to be who wrote those emails, who collected the money, and who actually sent the snakes. Two years or more later this is going to be a very hard thing to do and most prosecutors will not take a case that old. Most scammers know this and are counting on it.

It would be an easier case in civil court where the burden of proof is much less - More likely than not.

Hi, I accept paypal. I can ship either FEDEX or UPS. With a high value snake like this I will ship early AM delivery so that it gets there around 8AM. A photo is in the attachment. He has 3% white, it is towards his tail. It is a full band from right side then you can see definite color difference below him right up onto the left side. All of the coloration around it is bright brownish in color with beautiful orange like blushing and high white brown on top. Absolutely a great specimen.

I emailed them inquiring about the 0.5 Het Albinos (just for the heck of it) and the said they sold within an hour after posting up (for the past 4 weeks) and guess what??? They're up for sale AGAIN, today....

I reported them to Kingsnake and got an email stating I had to file with the IFCC first, which I have done. Once they get around to my complaint, they will send me an email, and I will forward that email to Kingsnake.

Still can't believe I did not check here prior to purshasing from them.

I purchased from them too and contacted the ifcc and sent it to Kingsnake months ago. They obviously know by now of Bearded pets, I guess they just don't care. And regarding the 0.5 hets I feel sorry for the people who bought those and it just shows you how scandilous Jon at BP is to have them up again. Should be called the "Get them before we're gone sale to ensure disappointment".....oops "dissapointment", lol.

Here what I got...

I "inquired" about the 100% Het Albinos about an hour or so after they posted them up a couple days ago. They emailed me a few hours later saying they "sold". Well, two days later, they're back up for sale, so I "inquired" again...requesting information on where to send payment and a phone #.

I received two emails from them, here they are:

I think any and all KS users/lurkers should email them concerning Bearded Pets recent activities. Whether you bought something or not....we've all seen the ads filled with BS, the misrepresented and sick animals (see attached image of their "yellow belly" posted at KS for thousands of dollars).

Sorry if it seems I'm not letting this die, but my primary goal in this hobby as of right now is to remove this joker(s) from our community as a seller of live harmless reptiles.

I bought a pair of hets back in Feb. for $650. First and hopefully the last time I got burnt. What kind of paperwork did they send? All I got was a printed gaurantee from Bearded Pets with a snake pictured and numbered at the top, but the real kicker is the pics on the "gaurantees" didn't match either snake. He even states that they come with papperwork from the breeder but didn't. He still won't tell me where they came from.They came packaged together in a snake bag, loosely, and when I asked which was male or female he stated he wasn't sure, "maybe the lighter one". He's a freak. I knew something was wrong right off the bat. Oh well, live and learn I guess.
