Does that make him a bad guy? His association can be a basis for not doing business. And thats the choice of the person buying from Rick.

Cathy, I certainly don't disagree with this statement. At the time I read just about every post in the Morph King thread. Not being a morph person I admit it was a little hard to follow at times but the gist of what I got out of it was that many didn't like the way Joe did business and just didn't like him personally. That's fine, I didn't particularly like him either. I don't know of anyone that posted negatively about an actual transaction though. Not only that there were almost as many that didn't disagree with the way he did business; i.e. charging whatever he wanted to for bp morphs.

Joe certainly isn't close the Chris Johnson standards which I believe you compared him to. It's obviously everyones choice who they do business with. I, for one, am not going to avoid everyone that has a different opinion than me as to who that is.

This is an interesting question. Bobby since you seem to be the expert on Joe give us an answer? Now then Wes, as the master of the turned phrase you above anyone should be able to distinquish between the term partner and in business together.

If I buy some of Wes's FWC at wholesale and then resell them. Are we partners of just doing business together? I Wes sends me snakes to sell because he trusts me and I sell them are we partners or in business together? I know maybe we should have a POLL in honor of the the missing POLL queen. I see nothing here to make me believe Rick is denying he does business with Joe. I bought an animal from Upstate Exotic and from Neil Gubitz that doesnt make me their partners. It means I got an animal from a source, you guys dont like the source but it was my choice. Ok so here is the deal from my perspective.

1. Ball Boutique has animals for sale. The source of those animals is really what your complaining about. But if I pay x dollars to Rick and get my snake what do I care?

2. I dont see a single person saying the Rick is a bad guy in his own right. The complaint is who he associates with.

So Bobby is Rick a bad guy? Come on Wes is Rick a bad guy? Is Ball Boutique on the list of vendors that rip people off?

I don't know if Rick has ever actually ripped anyone off.

But it certainly now appears that he did flat out lie when he said he was not Joe's new partner. And for me, the fact that he lied is the primary reason I would not want to do business with him. Who, or what he lied about is irrelevant.

Simply put, if he'll lie about that, what else will he lie about?

Yeah, I certainly don't agree with some of the things Morph King did with regards to the market, but truth be told a lot of that stuff was going on "behind closed doors" so to speak with all of the major ball python breeders. I haven't read or heard anything about Morph King/Joe/Wes not delivering animals that were paid for, not refunding deposits, selling sick animals. All that ReptileAuction stuff and the blackmail stuff just seems like rumor and innuendo, at this time anyway. Adding to that, I have never heard anything negative about Rick (or anything really positive, to be fair) and if he had an animal I was interested in (he won't since we got out of the ball python morph game), I might buy from him. Just my honest opinion.

Now if he indeed lied about being Joe's partner that changes things for me; I won't do business with a liar. That being said, is there any possibility that Rick is simply given a pricelist by Joe, and then marks the prices up in order to make a small profit off the sales? If that's what he is doing then he is doing no different than many.

I agree Erin. It does appear that Rick has an on going relationship with Joe. I would call it a partnership. Maybe not in the legal sense but in the sense every here was talking about.

Like I said and I will say it again I feel in good company if VPI did a breeding loan with Joe. Joe can't be all that bad. So I guess You will not buy from them too!

Can you confirm that you have been banned from Kingsnake and had your ads removed because of your association with Joe? If that is true, aren't you concerned that your name is being tarnished by your association with him? You may not be a bad guy, but when your lie down with dogs, you get fleas.

I do agree with you that if all Rick is doing getting a price list and marking things up to make his own profit, he'd just be doing normal business.

However, there appears to be more going on than that.

I have to say I agree with this.
This thread is not about Rick AND associates AND friends AND family AND acquaintances AND whatever else one can add to the list. It is an inquiry about Rick himself and how he is/has dealt with people in the present/past.
Thus far I have not seen one business transaction he has personally done that was bad, at least not on this board.

If Rick decides to do preorders for animals, IMHO it could get sticky... I hope he doesn't because it can hurt him, but that is a critique of his business practice.

I didn't inter into a transaction for projected offspring, I am buying a snake that is in the physical realm. And Rick has been great.

As far as his associations, I had to look up Joe... MKR. Not a popular guy, but I'm dealing with Rick not Joe. Rick has been totally professional & great to work with. I've spoken with him on the phone before we entered into this transaction. So I'm going to say that he Rick in my direct experience is good to deal with... that's all I can say. Do you sell any of Joe's animals on consignment or are they all paid for in full prior to you selling them? I know you said in a previous post that you only sell animals you own, but how do you own animals that do not even exist yet? Obviously you did not pay MKR for their animals that you are preselling did you??? Who does the deposits go to?
