In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Interesting Color Please LOOK

Yes, pieds are my favorites. If you look at the thread on morph preferences they are the most popular among the majority. Pastels are very nice too.

Ryan,

I don't know what happened but I tried to send an e-mail and apparently didn't go through. Anyways if you didn't get it send me an e-mail and I'll send you a link to a page with my projects and pictures of some of my breeding stock.

Regards

Just thought I would let you know that these two are locked up again this morning copulating so It looks good that they will have a clutch. I am actually thinking about putting him in with my last 1200 gram female that isn't bred.

Neat! Were you able to verify ovulation before the actual copulation took place?

Regards.

No, I wasn't not that I would know what ovulation looks like. She is very thick in the middle though and very plump at the tail. Can they store sperm?

Ryan,

Although I have read about other species being able to store sperm I have never seen a reference to ball pythons. Breeders place a lot of emphasis on trying to match ovulation close to copulation but I'm not sure if it's absolutely necessary. In checking one of the girls I have in loan today I noticed she is possibly gravid. She is huge, 4 feet plus and over 4000 g.

Regards.

So weight can be an indicator? I should probably look into getting a digi scale instead of the crappy analog one I have now. Might help out a good bit in figuring it out!

Ryan,

No, weight is not an indicator that a female is gravid. What I meant to say was that she is a heavy girl. The best indicator of a female being gravid is the bulge that you will notice towards the posterior 1/3 of her body when you grab her by the anterior 1/3 while letting her hang loose.

Regards.

Hopefully I will be able to get a clutch from her this season. Can't rush things...I guess if she is receptive to breeding that is a good sign. *we shall see*

Absolutely! How good is it to have a female that has ovulated if there are no copulations! The male has to be also interested.

Good luck to you!

I wish all the imports we recieved that looked like that were indeed axanthic.......

I'm willing to bet money they are odd normals, but like Dan said, it is impossible to say with exact certainty until they have been proven out. Good luck!

I have seen ball pythons that have gone through sheds and went from absolutley normal to looking hypo or axanthic. The simple reality is that if you did not get proven genetic animals you have only one option, to raise and breed the ones you have and breed back the offspring to the parents. Or breed a proven axanthic to your animals and see what hatches.

Ok, so here is what I figure....Since these two are indeed bred together if the babies come out looking like them then I need to wait and see what they produce first cause odds are they still in fact might not be axanthic. I have put the male in with my last receptive female to get possible "hets" if you can call them that. That way I can cross the offspring together and see what they produce. So in three years I will drag up this old thread and tell everyone what happens LOL! I really appreciate your input. Thanks so much!
