In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This forum has been renamed, and we invite those new to Fauna to introduce themselves here, and say a little about who they are and their hobbies and avocations.

If you've already been here for a while but never really gotten around to introducing yourself, even if you are already part of the 'family', feel free to join in, not matter how long people have been around there are always facets of their life and personality that are interesting and that may bring new friendships.

I'll start.

I'm Lucille. I'm a nurse in Texas and have grown children, and also have reptiles, birds, and a Shih Tzu named Muffin. I am going to school nights and Saturdays, but I enjoy the time I get to share here with all of you; I think Fauna is terrific. I'm glad y'all are here, and for the new members, welcome!

OK, how about y'all?

Lucille, isn't this a duplication of the Rogue's Gallery? Not that it matters, but I know Rich was trying to keep the forums concise.

Rogues' Gallery
As requested, this forum has been added to allow you all to put a short biography about yourselves in a thread.

This is more of a brief hello, a greeting, what you say when you walk in the door at a party; the Gallery is what you say when you sit down and talk to folks at the party.

I am sure that many will go on to the Gallery and the rest of the forums, but a nice greeting is always a good start.

From what I have seen, the Rogue's Gallery seems to be an area that people will post a bio only after they have been around here for a while. It's not really one of the first places a new member tends to go to upon registration.

This particular forum is positioned in such a prominent way that new members coming to the site will see it and maybe just stop in to introduce themselves before going on to the rest of the site. Kind of an ice breaker sort of place.

Lucille has already been running this forum as a kind of informal gathering place, so I felt combining that function with a welcome mat style forum might be worthwhile.

Hi-I'm Stef from outside of Pittsburgh, first posted about a week ago, have been lurking about a month. I am 41- have a 22yr old boy and a 6 and 9yr old boys. 2 German Shephards, 6 hamsters, 1 Guinea pig, 2 Carpet pythons,1 Burmese. I am starting a reptile removal and rescue. Got and placed my first Iguana a couple of weeks ago. My husband and I have a construction business and I'm learning to drive school bus right now. Glad to be here and see the amount of women into snakes-I'm having a hard time finding women in my area who are interested in the things Herp women are -My hubby is not into it -so I thought I'd find a place and here it is-too bad no ones close! (that I've seen here) we could go Field herpin' in the summer!

Welcome, Stefanie, we are glad you are here! :)
There are reptile shows from time to time and that is a good place to find local people with similar reptile interests.
Although many of us on Fauna are geographically diverse, the forums bring us together.

Who am I?

A good question, I have spent my whole life trying to figure that one out and fully define myself, and I look forward to spending the same amount of time in the future further refining the answer.

As it is, for now:

I'm Sasheena Kurfman, when I go to work I'm Mrs. Kurfman, or sometimes just Mrs. K. I teach high school math. I graduated from college in 1998, after which time I spent a year as a shipping clerk, a year teaching college, a year teaching at a private school, and this is my fifth year teaching at a public high school. I met my husband at the private school and we've been married for 4 1/2 years. He's the head of the science department at our high school. He has three kids from his former marriage, the oldest is in her second year at college, his middle child is living with us and dedicated to turning our hair white with her antics, and the youngest is a couple of years away from high school. (Abigail, Lydia, and Eliot)

I raise colubrids: king snakes and corn snakes. I've recently decided to sell off the majority of my snakes and work with a smaller number of snakes. I'll be sending 5 out of my 6 breeding kingsnakes to California in a week or two. Since we moved in to our very own home a couple of years ago, we started off by naming and befriending several alley cats, then snatched two kittens (Tigger and Kiki) from one of them, and then we were adopted by the cat in my avatar (His name is Freak). This spring one of the alley cats had a litter of SIX kittens, and aside from the one that our pool claimed, the rest are all very healthy young adult cats with their own names. (Blackie, Blackie, Furball, Snowflake, and Ocelot). We've caught and neutered several of the male alley cats and hope to catch and fix the five kitties and their momma.

In my spare time I work with several textbook publishers as a consultant. I love centaurs and fantasy fiction. I dream of having my FICTION published. I've been published in non-fiction a lot more than fiction. (software reviews, five or six textbooks and ONE short fantasy story).

Oh, and nobody ever accused me of being brief or concise. :)

im new here

I went from being new not even known to banned and fined. I paid my dues and bought a membership. I think though I have introduced myself and told all about my hobbies etc. In the thread that I started that got LOCKED. I by no means intended on that getting out of hand like that. Im being bombed on with neg. karma power i see. Wonder why? I plan to be around for awhile,so to those who seem to of gotten offended by that thread you have my apologies. It was with all good intensions.

Hi, my name is Yvonne. I've been here awhile, just watching the conversations (this site has a few prickly customers, haha)
I live in Wexford, PA; I probably live pretty close to Stef, which is very exciting! Stef, if you see this post please let me know what city you live in! :)
I love jet skiing (obviously...), snow skiing, and herps of all kinds. I've kept them most of my life, starting with a wild Eastern Box turtle *ahem* I kept as a kid for a couple of weeks before setting him free. I currently have three Panther chameleons; all from Liddy at Kammerflage Kreations. I can't beleive it, but I actually am starting to like the roaches they eat; I keep B. Dubia and B. Lateralis...they are almost as much fun as the chameleons!
I am a RN supervisor/RNAC...what this means in plain English, is I am a glorified babysitter who thinks about nothing but money. (RNAC means I specialize in reimbursement)
Jacob, you must have said something controversial...did you talk about politics or religion? :p

Yvonne, welcome, I am an RN also. You will love this board.
This is sort of an intro place, you are welcome to talk to Jacob but perhaps in another thread or private message as I wanted to keep this thread open for intros.
We are glad you are here!!!

Lol, Sasheena I need to take a lesson from your style...I forgot to mention my husband! This is probably because he has absolutely no interest in computers or herps, so youall probably will never meet him. He did display some excitement (smiled) when I excitedly told him that I sold some of my B. Lateralis - this is the first time my hobby has done anything but cost us money, haha! He likes to see me happy and is a wonderful wonderful partner. He has a degree in teaching; should have been a shop teacher, but he works for the local water authority instead. He was unfortunate enough to graduate from University whilst the Reaganomic era was in full swing. I feel his talents are being wasted, but what can you do...he also is allergic to everything bearing feathers or fur. To me, this means that cats and dogs must be dirtying our air far more than the less accepted herps...

Lucille, you need to come work where I work, because not a single nurse there understands my love of herps, lol. There was general revulsion and disgust when I dabbled in ATB's for awhile. They tolerate the chameleons, though. I haven't been brave enough to bring up roaches...
