    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Is anyone having dragons go into brumation early this year?

Me and several friends of mine are having our dragons go down for an early brumation. Has anyone else experienced this yet. We all live on the east coast and I was wondering if it is happening everywhere this year and if it is a sign of a hard winter to come for us.

I am in Pa and my male is acting like he is going into burmation.. I thought it was early also.He is always on cool side and sleepy.
 
I'm new to having dragons. Don't they go into burmation after they are a year old?
 
Brenda your right, a dragon is usually a year old when they do go into brumation. I do believe my female normal has beaten everyones dragons to brumation. She started her cycle this late June, lasted until 2 weeks ago. We thought she may have been sick but she never lost her weight and right before it she was eating more than she normally does which in some dragons is a sign of brumating on its way. I live in good ole Indiana so it may just be an eastern thing right now cause a person I know is having bnrumation with his dragons as well this month.
 
Yeah then mine are too young yet. My male keeps going on the cool side near his sleep spot and the girls do the same. They eat well and are gaining weight real good. All three of my dragons started acting different every since I bought new cages and then realized I had to change my lighting. Must just be getting used to the new set up.
 
My Rankin's are trying to brumate right now, they are just over a year old. A friend in New York had two Vitticeps in brumation already...several other people I know along the east coast are also experiencing this as well. I don't know if it is true, but I was also told that dragons in the Florida area are also trying to brumate due to the past years of hurricanes.
 
We live in South Florida and have three male bearded dragons housed on our back shaded/covered patio. They are about 8-9 months old and are acting funny. For the past couple of weeks they have been hiding in their huts and not really interested in their greens, nevermind live prey. When we peek inside to see what they are doing; they are not sleeping. Are they trying to brumate? All of this is really quite confusing.
 
I have a yearling female doing the same thing......she keeps burying herself under the food dish and not wanting to come out. I keep telling her that it is way too early in the year to do this, but she refuses to listen. ;)
 
Well Rich and Lacy, there is a Hurricane that is projected to hit the Keys, maybe that is what is causing your dragons to hide but not brumate. Creatures are amazing at their ability to predict the weather. I can always tell when bad weather is coming. My dragons go spastic, the iguanas get restless and the turtles dig in.
