• Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Is it just me?

Let me preface this with this statement - Love this site - as soon as I am re-employed I will contribute! Wouldn't change anything! Thank you Rich!!

But is it just me or are there getting to be more and more people posting that are of questionable ethics? I realize noone hear wants to be the "cops" I'm just tired of reading " I have _____ make me an offer. I will be out of the country and will respond soon." or "I've got _____ , and _________ but don't want to set a price. What do you offer for it?" And these sellers have maybe 5 posts and 0 feedback.

I don't fault in anyway the legitimate dealers. I am referring to the adds that use someone elses photos and claim them as their own.

Not saying anything new, I realize. Just getting frustrated with people that don't have "our" best interest at heart.

Sorry,

Call me the bitter old man. :(

Jonathan, this is nothing new. Scumbag scammers have been around for a long time. They are just getting more and more brazen with their scamming attempts. Always check the BOI and ask for references. When in doubt, back out.....

If you know of a foolproof method of identifying the scammers and weeding them out leaving the legitimate sellers, then please let me know your methods.

The scammers have certainly found the easy access to newbies via the internet to be an incredibly rich environment to operate within.

It is pretty nearly impossible to stop the FIRST scam someone will pull. We can only hope to able to stop the NEXT one. So ask around for references and make CERTAIN you have a positive ID on who you are sending your money to so YOU aren't that FIRST victim. If a deal looks too good to be true from an unknown entity, you may very well be setting yourself up to be that FIRST victim. So tread carefully......

I agree completely. It is no fault of this site or for that matter anyone responsible for this site. Con artists have and will be around for a long time. I wish I could offer a good resolution

There is no magic way to keep the scammers out. We all have to do our part to let others know once one has been identified.

The BOI and the the good and bad guy list are great tools. I applaud their creation.

If you see an ad here that isnt closed. And you feel funny about it then post a little comment on there. Dont be rude at first like I'am. Just ask what is on your mind. Hell it may just be nothing. But you never know if you just saved someone a grand or more..

Yeah that reminded me. This past week I was looking on Kingsnake and saw a seller who had banded corn snakes. I was possibly interested, so I asked for pics ands also pics if he had them of the parents. Well he sent me pics of the supposed parents. One of the pics is pic of the adult banded corn from South Mountain's site. He could have been showing it as an example, however he made no mention of it being so. Sort of turned me off from going forward with any deal.
