    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

So we opened up our piebald boy's tote today (who's a year old last month) and he had finally shed. When I opened the tote, I did NOT know what snake this was even though his name was on the tote! he is no longer his beautiful orange woodgrainy self, but a whole different beautiful consisting of gray, black, and white with a tinge of green in the middle sections (where it looks like flash) but orange near the edges/belly scales. In these pictures he is more orange than he actually is. The first is him before shed, after that is after this shed. Is he ok?! Does he need to go to a vet? Is this just a phase or something?! He's alert and very active and the same old Bolt he always is. Any ideas/help?? Please?? I really hope I am over reacting :)

All snakes darken or lighten with each shed. He is a lot bigger than in those "other pics" the color change is normal.

Good deal. He should go back to his normal color correct? I was hoping I was over reacting :) He was that color right before his shed, it was just scary (well at first, now cool). None of our other snakes have done that before. Thank you much!!

Well , first I bet this has happened over a period of time. I see the orange pics and in comparing them to the other pics. I have come to the conclusion that this has happened over a 6 month or longer period and not over night. In one of your pics you show a tail with no stripe as a baby and in the gray pic it has a long tail and a long stripe. That didn't happen over night. Plus just in comparison of head size in the pics shows the age difference.
So, how long have you had this Pied?

I don't know that I would say it is completely normal; but it isn't unheard of for a BP to undergo such a drastic color change after a shed. In some of the cases I'm familiar with, the snakes did eventually return to their previous coloration - or close to it. A few never did (a few years later, at this point). Personally, I like this look better....

He looks healthy to me..just looks like he is part chemeleon.. do you have any ideas who the parents were? If one was a chemeleon that may help answer your question. j/k. But, seriously, he looks great and as long as hes acting okay then I wouldnt worry. Just keep the bleach away from him next time...but, I have never had this happen with a snake before so who knows?

We are his first owners. I bought him for my fiancee last July. We picked him 2 days after he hatched. He was hatched I believe in July and came home in August/September. He was dark a couple weeks ago when I last saw him (my fiancee and I switch off cage cleaning) then in shed, shed and came out like this. It was alarming since this happened since he last ate (which was last week). I'm glad to hear he's ok thank you guys for replying so quickly!
As for the parents (could the parents have something to do with it?), I could ask the breeder. We talk to his breeder a decent amount so I might give him a call.

I was just joking about the parents thing..although, if one washed out when it got older that could be something interesting to know.
