In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey everyone,
I had a question about the potential size of my female Suriname boa. I purchased her from Barry Miller and on his site he mentions that both of her parents are relatively small adults with the female less than 7 feet and the male approx. 5 feet long. Is this something that will carry on to my female? Size is not necessarily an issue to me, but it would be more practical if my girl topped out under 8 feet. What do you guys think?
Thank you!

I've read somewhere that genetics plays a role but also feeding habits help to, if you feed guinea pigs and rabbits because of there higher fat content you are more likely to get a bigger animal, don't know for sure, but because of that, I have decided to stick to rats for quite some time befor I even consider bunnies.

The more you feed them the bigger they grow.snakes grow all there lives I have a 6 year old red tail last year she was 7 1/2 feet long now she tops out just over 8ft
i was feeding her 3 jumbo rats every 10 days .

Suriname's do grow larger than the Columbian Boas. Whether the mother was small will not have much effect on the snake, unless it was a genetic dwarf boa. The parents to yours may have been a first time bred pair of Suriname Boas, which explains their smaller size. The clutch would be smaller and the babies may not have been really long, but as you will see over time your snake will become a big one. Right now I do not know of any dwarf Suriname's or anyone who is working to produce such. Female Suriname's are know for their 12 foot log size, unlike their 9 foot cousin Columbians.

Size of most animals are determind by Multifactorial Polygenic Traits.

Multifactorial traits are determined by interactions between a gene or genes and the environment.

Polygenic traits are determined by more than one gene, with each gene providing a small, but additive effect.
Polygenic Traits Are Continuously Varying. Polygenic traits usually produce a continuum of phenotypes. Individual genes of a polygenic trait follow Mendel's laws, but together do not produce Mendelian ratios.

Basicly, how large your Surimame will grow is determind by the genetics of it's family tree and its environment. In this case its environment is created by you...such as how much it is fed, caging and other basic care.

There are certainly smaller races of Surimame Bcc. Some locales will not ever get as large as others. I have many that will never get as large as my larger Col Bci.
