    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

The BOI has already saved me from making one very costly mistake, so my vote is a resounding yes. As far as value for the buck, the BOI is the best around. Keep up the good work!

I think the BOI is worth the 10.00, hell is worth the 10.00 and everything else is just icing on the cake !!! I havent ever had a question about something that i was able to find the answer to from someone in one of the forums, The site has a wealth of information and experienced people that are always more then willing to help others out.
 
The people in general who would vote NO cannot vote if they haven't paid. I don't think this poll is accurate.

I am sorry, but you are mistaken about this. ANY registered member can participate in this thread and vote on the poll. That is the only requirement. This forum is not restricted to paid members only.

However, people who are just guests and are not registered or not logged on cannot participate, but that is the case in nearly all of the forums on this site.
 
I say no just because for me, it isn't worth it. I am not going to pay $10 just to ask 1 question once a year. I don't buy in large enough volume, from unknown breeders to have to pay to find out about their rep. I can just search and see how they are.
 
What I think

I have not been very active in the last year or so. So why did I pay the $10? I feel it is worth it. Ask yourself what you can buy with a ten spot? A burger and fries? I guess it all boils down to what is important to you. If you want the advice and the PRIVILAGE of this forum than stop complaining. NOTHING in life is FREE? Why should this forum be? Webslave puts a LOT of work into it. Have any of you ever tried to keep up a site this big? You can NOT let it "run itself" LOL if you did it would soon :toiletcla
Try it sometime Just start a forum and see what happens...... :ack2: been there done that dont want to do it again!

Just a little late in responding here, but either way...

The reason a person might get bashed here on fauna could be one of two simple things really. okay three but the last one dosnt really count if youre semi intelligent.

1)Theyre unwilling to listen to the advice of the more experienced people here.
2) or theyre constantly negative against the people that do love this site and do get along with eachother and have taken the time to get to know one another.

There is a way to word things so that you dont offend people, and there is a way to write it so that you sound like a jerk or a complete moron.

Obviously it takes some practice being in an online environment where words can certainly be taken the wrong way very quickly. and also some time to get to know the people that respond to your posts, somtimes sarcasam can be taken too harshly here when really its meant as a poke in the side. When you read things online, take it with a grain of salt. That is my best advice to you here on fauna there are MORE than enough people here, including myself who are willing to accept new people and get to know them as well. But if the new person dosnt care to get to know anyone, or write in a respectable manner, of course theyre going to get bashed.

Think before you speak/type. and read and reread every post you make before its posted. and hell, to those that CANT spell worth a damn, USE SPELL CHECK! :) Dont hate fauna, and dont look at it as a negative experience. everyone here cares about their animals and has the same passions as everyone else! take some time to sit down and really get to know us! i promise, noone will bite.. too hard :p

people who throw tantrums and threaten for NO reason other than for a show of words. we all know these people are all talk, so they end up looking like fools.

Right now I have a war chest set aside for any lawsuits that may come my way because of what goes on in the BOI here, but could I reasonably sustain a fight against something Microsoft because of something Bill Gates wanted deleted from my site?

Heck, I've done dumber things before, so might very well set it up anyway. Maybe I should set up a poll to see if anyone here would even use it. At least give me a feel for whether it is really worth considering.

I think you could do it rich, youd just need to pull over some really trustworthy people to use as mods to control it, but i think that in the end it would be a great idea and would really work for everyone. there are lots of other people, like those on ebay, who are passionate about stopping scams and illegal activity as much as those here and i think theyd make great mods when you find them. *shrugs* i just really like that idea :p

And even then, once they get sucked into the community (as im sure most of us have...) theyll eventually form the same opinion that the BOI really is worth the 10 extra bucks!
in this day and age, more and more people are paying for online things, Like world of warcraft, or livejournal ( yes im sad i know!) , or other such games/services.
I dont think its that big of a deal anymore as far as paying and i think the people that are most turned away are the 15-17 year olds that dont have bank cards to sign up with and send money.

But i assure you, lots and lots of people online in the herp world know about the BOI in one way or another, its growing every day. :)

LOL gotchya. ( stinks for me but its only 10.00. )

Either way i dont mind. Maybe this 10.00 membership could go towards hell then eh? id be nice if paid members ahve access to all areas of the site :p just my opinion of course.

Well there are STILL benefits of being a Participant member beyond posting privileges on the BOI. I just thought it would be helpful if there was a verification system in place to make certain people posting on the BOI were legit and not just false registrations. I suppose this was not important to enough people for me to continue enforcing the toll booth. :shrug01:

As for when this happened, well there is a notice I posted right at the top of the BOI forum alerting members of this change. So the date is posted there when this took effect.

As for the HELL forum, honestly, I am not certain I will even keep it. With the relaxed rules on the BOI, it may no longer be worth anyone paying $10 for. Seriously, people would pay $10 a year just to be able to cuss in a forum? :rolleyes:

I dont really mind about paying for the site just cause im here all the time ( though, it seems i dont pay much attention... heh go me) i pay for a few online things, so it wouldnt really bother me that much either way.

i support the things i love!
