    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Is This A Good Lock?

Jerry, what is the significance of the female sitting on top of the male?
The female will sit on the male for one reason, to stop his advances.
For whatever reason if she's not ready to breed yet and the male continues to pursue her, then she will sit on him.
Large males will just crawl out from under the female and sit in the corner but smaller males aren't always strong enough to do so, so they just lay there and do nothing until she either lets him up or you remove him.
I choose to remove the male since her body language is telling him NO :)

Thanks Jerry. Sounds like I've got a lot to learn about the breeding process!
Your welcome!

Everyone's already said everything. But I do agree with Jerry, watch the males weight. Our male cinny stopped eating and he got smaller than I liked. So we pulled him for a few weeks and now he's eating. He'll get ladies soon if he keeps eating :)

I see that everyone is saying to watch the weight of the male, he is still eating so far but should I still be offing the female food? She was off food for about 3 weeks before I started pairing them together but she ate 2 weaned rats yesterday. Should I keep offering her food as long as she wants to eat or will this effect her ability to develope eggs?

Offer food...any food she will take will only give her more energy reserves to get through the breeding process and help her develop healthier eggs. The breeding process takes an extreme toll on females(males too), as they will no doubt go off feed for at least 2+ months, and after laying will have lost a very significant percentage of body weight.

I have not noticed any attempt at a lock nor does she seem to have any interest in him at all the last 2 times that I have put them together. I have been putting them together for 3 days and giving them a break for 3 to 5 days. Does this mean that I should quit putting him in with her? I did notice that she appeared to be a little lighter in color than normal a few days ago. I have read about "glowing" but I'm not totally sure that is what it was or perhaps just the way I was looking at her.
