    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

is this normal behavior?

I have a young california kingsnake. She is around 20 inches or so long. Is it normal for her to be so scared when I try to pick her up. If I reach into the tank to get her she starts rattling her tail and striking at me. I have been using a snake hook to pick her up lately but would really like to be able to just reach in and scoop her up. Even when I hold her she seems real jumpy. If I squeeze a little at all to hold onto her she really starts trying to get away. do i just need to hold her more and that will calm her down or what? she doesnt look as though she is retaining any old eye caps or anything, so I dont think that is the problem.....unless she is partially blind or something.
 
It is perfectly normal behaviour.

Just reach in and pick her up. Don't squeeze her, let her crawl from hand to hand until she's too tired to move any more.

She may well poop on you and/or try to bite you but if you keep going she'll eventually figure out that you are not going to eat her, as she is pre-programed to believe anything bigger than her intends to, but that you are just another bush to crawl around on.

Be consistent and don't let her train you. Pick her up, hold her, let her stop squirming around, then do it again.

It most likely won't take too long before she calms down.
