    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Isis Reptiles (Isis Madec) robbed at gunpoint or phishing scam?

I received an interesting email today from someone claiming to be Isis Madec of isis reptiles. Instead of summarizing it, here it is in its entirety:

I'm sorry for this odd request because it might get to you too urgent but it's because of the situation of things right now,I'm stuck Scotland with family right now, we came down here on family vacation, we were robbed, worse of it is that bags, cash and cards and our cell phone were stolen at GUN POINT,and it's hard to get hold of a phone here in Scotland it's such a crazy experience for us, we need help flying back home, the authorities are not being 100% supportive but the good thing is we still have our passport but don't have enough money to get our flight ticket back home, please i need you to loan us some money, will refund you as soon as we are back home, i promise.

There's a few strange things.
1. I don't believe I've ever bought anything from isis reptiles.
2. the from and reply to addresses are different.
3. "hard to get hold of a phone in Scotland" ?!?! It's Scotland, not Nigeria.
4. Impersonal greeting "hello there"
5. An AOL email signed by yahoo.com?

Just wondering if anyone else got this or knows anything about it.

sounds like a scam. print the email, then hang it to remind yourself of what people will do.
 
This is a scam, and it has nothing to do with Isis reptiles. I know several people who have got this exact email, but it was marked as being from someone else. Someone probably hacked into their email account, and if you've ever even contacted Isis for any reason, your email address is probably stored in their contacts. You may want to let Isis reptiles know that their email is being used for Phishing scams.
 
The part that sticks out most to me is, don't most people buy a *round trip ticket* when they take their families on vacation? The request itself doesn't even make sense. As mentioned above, sounds a lot like their email was compromised and is being used to spam.
