In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Looking for any basiliscus basiliscus available. I do not know why these guys are so hard to find when their counterpart, basiliscus vit, can be found for a few dollars any where.

Hello,my name's Garrett and I live in Broward county Florida.i have multiple brown basilisks living in my backyard and my neighborhood is loaded with them.they're an invasive species here.anyways I can collect some for u of different genders and sizes and I would b reasonable on they're cost.these guys don't sell for more than $20 apiece.the thing is shipping them will run u around $80-$100 for FedEx priority overnight which is the only way I ship.I've been keeping and breeding herps over 30 years and if given enough time could get as many as u want, but do u want to pay more for the shipping than the cost of the animals?let me know.thanks,Garrett Miller

Ryan I also several groups of plumifrons. Garrett we are looking specifically for Basiliscus basiliscus and not Basiliscus vittatus. You have B. basiliscus there??

The Basilisks that are established in Florida are Basiliscus vitattus, not Basiliscus basiliscus. Very different animals. I think most people don't realize that.

True brown basilisks (Basiliscus basiliscus) are larger than B. vitattus, and have more prominent crests on the back and tail. Picture a brown B. plumifrons.

Garrett, if by chance you could snap a few pictures of adults and post them up here, we would be able to identify the species. If they are true browns, you have buyers! Thanks. Gila,it is most unfortunate that people do not know the difference between vit and true browns, moreover, I am also in search (hopelessly it seems) of basiliscus galeritus. The red headed basilisk.

Finally somebody knows about the true beast, basiliscus basiliscus! It is almost impossible to find them in the states, n it's always confused with b. vittatus. Recently I bought a baby male brown basilisk, thinking its another b.vittatus. However he is very different, a lot of black stripes, back crest also developing at an early age, n growing up faster n larger than any b.vittatus i have had before. Maybe I can share a photo or two of him. Im wondering what do the females basiliscus basiliscus look like? Are there any hybrids between b.basiliscus n b.vittatus?

To my knowledge, there has not been any hybridize attempts between the two species, but who knows. Females will also exhibit the black striping, but in a more faded/ speckled nature. I hope you really have a true basciliscus. That would be fantastic, and please do send pictures. Oh, and where did you get the little guy from?

By all means post a pic. I recently picked up three juvenile B. vittatus and one of them is also very different from the other two. It does not have the typical lateral yellow line and is mottled brown with dark black bands. Im not convinced it is not just a variation of vittatus. However, these two do overlap in the wild so it is conceivable it could be basiliscus. Im thinking of contacting the company and ordering more with this pattern just in case.

Hey guys, I have worked with all these in the past and the easiest way to determine B. basiliscus and B. vittatus is that the vittatus has keeled ventral scales, where the basiliscus has smooth. Hope I could be of help. I too am looking for B. basiliscus and also would appreciate any help.
