In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

For some odd reason i can't seem to get into the chat room. In the past, i never had an issue. But its likely been at 6 mo's to 1 year since i've been here and i wanted to stop in and see who's in chat.

My first attempt asked me to install the new runtime. So i did, but afterwards it only loads and loads and never actually enters chat.

I made a quick attempt at searching the word "Chat" to see if anyone else was having issues, but nothing came up. So i was hoping someone here might have some form of a solution i could attempt.

I have tried with both Firefox and Chrome. I have disabled and re-enabled Java, all to no avail.

Thanks in advance for your assistance
Chris Altizer

PS - It's been a while, I hope this thread is in the right place. I did a quick scan of the available forums and this seemed to be the most applicable place for this thread.

Seems to be working fine with IE9, I don't use the browsers you mention so I can't say for sure it's an issue with them or not.

If you're using Java 7, that could possibly be part of the problem. Might be worth reverting to the last Java 6 update and see if that help. Version 7 was usually pretty wonky for me.

Hey Alicia! Long time no see! :) I just updated Java to 7. I've also now tried using IE9 and apparently thats not working either. It asks me to install something (i'm an IE noob), so i click install and it says its from an unknown publisher. Then something on my computer blocks it from continuing.

I am going to do a quick system restart, as i havent restarted since i installed the update. Watch that be the simple fix to this whole thing. LOL

Hmmm, still problem. It gives me an error at the top left corner and says "Click for details". When i do it pops up another window saying "ClassNotFoundException" with rcs.client.RealChatClient.class at the bottom. Then has 3 buttons that say "Details" "Ignore" or "Reload"

I have "NoScript" as an addon on Firefox, but i have allowed both faunaclassifieds.com and faunaads.com. I have then disallowed them, and re-allowed them to see if maybe it just needed to be reloaded. I've also hit Ctrl+F5 to reload the cookie to see if that made any difference. Still nothing. Not quite sure what else to do.

Bryon and Laura are wntirely unable to get in chat anymore too... Its really old software and i think newer code is less and less compatible across the board, since in not ON the system its hard for me to guess, have you tried a different browser just to be sure??

Weird, can't seem to get into chat on either of the computers in my house. I never had any issues in the past, it would always load for me nearly instantaneously. Hmmm, I wonder if anyone else might know what the issue is. Is there anyone on here i can go to in order to ask about this?

I have been curious about the chat here, so I checked out your thread here. I won't be able to use it at all because I uninstalled java a while back (too vulnerable, imo).

However, Dan suggested that you use Java 6, NOT Java 7. Sometimes newer versions of apps, etc, are less stable than older ones.

It's also possible that you have both Java 6 and 7 installed on your PC, which can cause issues. Go into Control Panel--->Programs and Features, and make sure you don't have 2 different Java versions installed.

I unfortunately have no clue how to revert back to a previous version. I have to go run an errand or two, but will come back and check to see if anyone else that has had this problem has found some form of a solution.

Thank you to everyone for your assistance!

Every single problem I've ever had with chat has been Java-based. Simplest way to revert is to go into the Programs and Features, like I mentioned above, and uninstall anything that says Java.

After that, assuming you're on Windows, you can DL Java 6 from here:

http://www.java.com/en/download/manual_v6.jsp

If that doesn't work, completely uninstall it, and DL and install Java 7:

http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp?locale=en

Well, i tried doing all of that Apex. Then i attempted to click the "Verify" button on the site to verify the install occurred correclty and it kept giving me more errors. I've done restarts, etc.. and none of its working out well at all. Stinks cause i really wanted to come chat. But i guess i'll have to pass for now.

Thanks to all of you for your assistance!

I tried it myself (using IE9) and I didn't have any problems getting in.

Yes, I'm running Vista 64 on this computer.

Just went into chat a bit ago and posted a bunch of messages and interacted with other members there. Seems to be working fine for me.
