• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

It pisses me off...

Ever notice how some breeders or wholesalers treat you like you don't exist. You know, contact them attempt to place an order and send them money. Then nothing, except short blunt an sometimes just plane rude responses.

I want to ask them. So you started off from exactly where you are today, doubtful.

Then they wonder why they get a bad rep and end up losing there business.

Some people have a successful business in spite of themselves, not because of it.

Yes. I find that it is commonplace.
It frustrates me to answer an ad or otherwise inquire about an animal, and get no response whatsoever. In my experience, it is the so called "big name" breeders and resellers who tend to be the worst. Perhaps they expect the consumer to beg for their animals. Unfortunately, plenty seem willing to do so. I simply add them to my list of people that I will never buy from.
Hobby breeders tend to be much more responsive.
I recently responded to an ad for some fairly uncommon amphibians. I said I was interested, but needed some care info for that species, as I couldn't find anything online. I got a response after TWO WEEKS- "sorry sold out". Funny thing was, they placed another ad for that same species the very next day. My theory is that they were simply too lazy to provide basic care info. Many of them seem to want nothing to do with the customer, other than to accept their payment. Well, that's one big reseller I'll never buy from.
I've observed that, unlike more traditional businesses, the qualifications to be a herp "business owner" seem to be pretty low. One doesn't need a background in business, sales, customer service, or even basic civility in order to sell herps- and quite often, it shows.

On the other hand, I have jumper through hoops to send pictures or even hold an animal for 24 hours to never hear from the person again. There are bad customers too.

Unfortunately, for me at least, that list is much longer than the list of people I would buy from.

My problem with the hobby breeders is no one breeds normal animals. Everyone has morphs and wants an arm and a leg and that's not what I want.

I'm forced to consider the big time resellers because they are the only ones who are selling what I am looking for but I refuse to do business with them so I am on the outside looking in.
