In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

On the morning of Monday, October 13, Living Gems had its second litter of 2014. First-time Mom Nephrite delivered her litter in her water bowl early in the day. (Dad Franklin was on vacation.)

The first round of photos, hurriedly snapped before I dashed off to work:

The enclosure’s left side, just after the babies were discovered:

The enclosure’s right side, moments later:

And the waterbowl and right corner, apparently the “in” place to hang out:

When I got home from work, I was able to grab some additional photos:

Everyone make a break for it!:

Mom, we’re going out to play:

This little one thought Mom made a great train ride:

And, hidden away in this litter of attractive little normals, I came across this girl:

Note the slightly thicker black borders than normal on her dorsals.

Right after that, I came across her sister:

Those are some of the thickest borders I have seen on a Brazilian. Also note her side ocelli, which look more like small bars then the usual dots, and have few/subdued crescents.

It will be interesting to see how both girls develop.

The total litter count was 15 babies -- seven boys and eight girls -- with an average weight of 29 grams.

Thank you, as always, for reading.

So far, all good, thanks -- except one that is also doing find but refuses to eat.... (Sharing from another thread: I have one baby Brazilian from my last litter that also does not "get" the food idea. The baby passed on a frozen/thawed rat pink...another rat pink...then a mouse hopper...then, when I finally broke down and offered a live rat pink...I found the baby hiding from the rat pink on top of its water bowl. Sigh....)

Bummer,I've had that too. Was excited it ate,but found it didn't. The rat pink was under the hide.

Well, (mostly) good news: it looks like the baby waited until the big, scary rat pink died...then cruised over and finally ate now non-threatening corpse. Go figure.
