    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Actually I did use the BOI and searched his name. Maybe I did not do it right. I used the search option and typed his FULL name in. Nothing came back?

Oh yeah I still have not gotten an e-mail back from him yet.

Yes I do think he is selling my animals...Maybe I am wrong.

I gotta go with Chuck on this one...you said "whenever he had it". It was "no big deal". Later, he said he'd have it on Thursday, but maybe he never got it....so he still didn't "have it". It doesn't excuse his lack of communication by any means, but if you want to be paid in a specific time frame (say, any time within 2 weeks or something) that has to be clarified before completing the transaction. Simple as that.

Thanks for coming here and warning us all about your deal. I understand why you told him to take his time, because people say things like that all the time. Take your time... no hurry... when ever you get the money. But there was a time agreed on, and with no communication this guy decided to go beyond that deadline.

I have had people owe me money before, and if we agree on a date for them to pay me back, they have all the way until that point before I get rude. before that, I may say take your time or when ever you get the money, but they know we had a deal on when I was to be paid. I have gotten my money before or on the date agreed on most of the time, sometime I don't, and the person who owes is in the wrong then and not the lender.

There is no reason to treat this guy who has just been ripped off like crap. You guys are really showing your asses. He may or may not be a business guy, this is a hobby, remember? Why the hell are you all so freaking jaded? I really hope that you can see what you are acting like here, and I hope that you change so we can make this hobby something fun. I really don’t think that there needs to be this elitist attitude here on the BOI, it would be such a better place with out it.

I recently told a buyer I am engaged in a deal with to "take his time", but the difference is that I will hold the animal intil I receive payment in full. This prevents him from ripping me off...even though he's been great to deal with and seems trustworthy so far. Here's to a lesson learned!

I think the harshness is a result of the frustration felt by those of us who see Luc's naive behavior as enabling those who wish to rip people off. He left himself wide open for this, and because of it, there may be one more person out there that can scam a little longer. Right or wrong, there are multiple threads here that outline exactly how others have been scammed, and exactly how to avaoid being ripped off...Luc chose to ignore this, and has learned an important, albeit expensive lesson. Now he's taking some heat for it here.

To quote Jeff Foxworthy: "Let him pull it on his head a couple of times...he'll learn".

Some people on here are making it a drama place. When you did your deal that was better. Can I ask how old you are?

Luc you get the full spectrum here- don't focus on what you don't find helpful, look for & use what makes sense for you. We've all done something that came back on us at one time or another.

Trust in itself isn't bad. You just trusted the wrong person to have the same priorities as you would in repaying a debt... best to always spell it out. Now you know. I wish you a speedy recovery of your money.

The more direct folks may pride themselves on being direct. They also don't place the same value on tact as you do, still they can offer you good advice. Likely they learned a lesson or too the hard way as well. I suggest worrying less about being human...

Luc, it was not my intent to jump on you, rather to point out that although the buyer did set a date he would pay, you left it too open ended for him, and thus left yourself open for this. When I said "Here's to a lesson learned", I was commending you on a lesson that it looks like you've obviously learned.

I'll be 31 on 9/4 and I spent my youth learning things the hard way. I considered myself intelligent for learning from my mistakes. Then, I learned the difference between intelligent men and wise men...while intelligent men learn from their mistakes, wise men learn from the mistakes of others.

I apologize if it seemed like I was jumping on you after your original post. Not my intent, and I do hope things work out for you.

Update on the situation:

I have finally gotten him to communicate with me. It took this thread, and also threatening to take him to the police. Before now there was virtually no communication on his end. Now I am promised money in parts and a consistency in e-mails(updates).

I had sent him numerous unanswered e-mails from 8-11-08 till now basically.

I'll keep you posted on the situation.

Now that you see where your wording may have set you up to fail, try to get him nailed down to a new agreement, with specific amounts due and dates that they should be to you. Set up a final date for things to be paid in full.

If you can get him to do that and he does not follow through, at least you would have something to take with you to court, should it come to that.

You may want to mention his fishing trip as well...just doesn't seem like he's making you a priority. I love to fish, but bills (or outstanding debts) come first!
 
Well, I believe the fishing trip to be a lie. Maybe its just a lame excuse?

If he was on a fishing trip then shouldn't he have told me. anyways the time he was fishing was one week, we had broken communications longer than that.

If he can't afford to pay me how can he afford to go fishing for a week?
 
Hello everybody!

I received the rest of my money today from James Barbato. I let him pay me on the15th of each month. His first two payment were about a week late each time. His last payment was one month late, exactly.

I believe that he is a bad guy. It is up to you to decide for yourselves, I am just presenting the evidence.

Keep in mind I had to remind him numerous times to pay me. He dropped communications with me. I had to set up a payment plan for him, which he abused anyways. I had to threaten with the police and even had to call his local sheriff's office! I had to start a thread here before he even started replying to me.

I for sure, will never do business with him again.

Yea, this thread depicts this kid Luc's lack of patients and professionalism.

He told the man he would wait for a payment and then makes a bad thread on the guy.

He told me the skink was eating snail meat but could not wait to fatten it up so against advice he proceeded to ram a pink down its throat against my 10 emails urging him to not do that.

I say give him a diaper and pacifier and ban him from selling/buying reptiles and take away his computer after a 2 year stint in time-out.
 
Let's all try an experiment....If we all simply act like Dan isn't here....maybe he will go and try and be an attention whore elsewhere.
