In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy James/ Ember Gecko

I am trying hard to suppress my inclination to suspect that possibility until it is more apparent or supported. Just as a matter of course. The thought certainly crossed my mind.

I am still very upset that I am $400 under because of the sellers inability to forecast his packaging requirements.
I would be upset as well. I'm looking forward to your posted emails, and hopefully Ember Gecko will respond.
Sometimes a satisfactory solution is reached here once a seller sees that there may be consequences in terms of peer pressure and the possibility of subsequent loss of sales after egregious behavior has been complained of, and backed up with proof.

I may change my mind after all the communication is posted.

However, right now, James should refund the full amount. If this shipping date was planned well enough ahead of time and the shipping date set, unless there is a big change in weather or an accident, the animals should have been shipped. I will say that I won't ship on Thursdays anymore because of the risk of an animal being delayed and not arriving until Monday, but that is up to the buyer and seller. However, not having a heat pack a week or so after setting up shipping is unacceptable and the delay is the fault of James at that point. The right thing to do would be to say he's sorry and refund the full amount.

I'm still waiting to make a final conclusion after seeing the full timeline and messages.

I did send via paypal and I think I will file a claim. Only thing is I sent 3 separate payments as I did a deposit, then another payment then a final payment meaning I must open 3 cases .

Dont get me wrong, I hardly write reviews, if there was just a case of the mess up with my plans then fine but my main problem is the seller was rude, he did not try to help, he is out right refusing to refund me and is not acknowledging it is his fault.

What I can understand on his part or what I can say his argument is:

1. He didnt know I was traveling just for the animals nor did he know that it was such a short window. Which I can respond if i wanted: It does not matter the window or what my ways of collecting were. Once I made my arrangements to collect on the agreed delivery date then it does not matter.

2. There is no way i can safely ship.... I can understand this and would by no means want to harm the animals but the reason you cant ship is because you inadvertently mismanaged your supplies (which you out right admitted was true) . I can understand that shit happens but the reasonable and professional thing to do is refund the customer if they ask. I am the sort of person that if I want something and you have it then I will get it from you (even with minor bad experiences) because lets be honest, some morphs are hard to find. I even assured the seller that since I liked his displayed animals that i would purchase from him in the future but I just need my money back now.

I mean I even offered suggestions out of my pocket. I offered to overnight heat packs to him on my dime but he would have to pay for a Saturday delivery/ pickup. He blatantly refused. He gave me nothing but attitude, offered no help. Even went as far as to tell me he cant pull a heat pack out his ass. That isnt how you deal with paying customers.

These geckos were almost 700bucks alone without shipping. If im spending that sort of money with you and offering to pay more to make things work I dont know why you could not treat me like a human being instead of hanging up in my ear. Business people dont do that!

This is not my first walk in the park. Other occasions I have had sellers even email me prior to the requested delivery date asking if we were still on. I must commend premium crickets because amidst all of this they emailed me monday asking if I was still on with shipping to meet the date. Its a shame now that I must put them on hold also since I am not getting the animals.

I will post screen shots of our emails below.

If one reads it carefully, in the original post the OP says he is "out $400 in travel expenses". He never says how much he paid the seller for the animals (unless I somehow missed that) but he did say that he had made three payments to the seller preparatory to picking them up from FEDEX and he owed the seller no more money for the animals the first day they were to be shipped. The seller was paid in full, but the amount was not $400; that was the expense of traveling to NY to get the animals.

How much are you owed for the animals themselves, Ezra? I am fairly sure it must be substantially more than $400 to warrant making a special trip to NY solely to pick them up.

The amount paid for the geckos was being posted by the OP at the same time I was writing the post above. $700 in total.

Kristie I fully understand the weather thing. If James told me that he could not ship because of the weather being unsafe or he even mentioned that the last payment could not be processed on time I would understand. Where he messed up was that his first excuse was "I ran out of heat packs so I cant ship till I get some next week". After telling me last week that you can make a Friday delivery? Even if he said " hey Ezra I dont do friday deliveries then I would have shipped to a friend who keeps reptiles for the day or just arrange my plans to suit.

I mean when you are using your heat packs you could not think that you have x orders that are meant to go out this week and overnight some to accommodate? I know with my business that sometimes you mess up but if you do then you bend as far as you can to make that customer at least somewhat satisfied. Im not asking to be compensated for my wasted trip. Just either wanted my animals or my money back until we can determine when I can get them.

Its easier for me to travel for them because

1. I get a little away time from work

2.Its so much less than the shipping and especially the handling fee I will be charged here

3. Sometimes its a mess trying to get these animals out of our ports alive. Always some damn delay that puts the animals at risk so I prefer to spend the money and come right up for them.

Did Paypal tell you to open 3 cases?

I did send via paypal and I think I will file a claim. Only thing is I sent 3 separate payments as I did a deposit, then another payment then a final payment meaning I must open 3 cases .

Thanks here is the first set

Majority of the convo where I was trying to work out solutions to getting them was on the phone. The parts where the seller was rude was also on the phone before he hung up. He accepted that yes it was his fault that he managed his shipping supplies badly. Pity I didnt record the conversation.
