I am EXTREMELY sorry for not getting the dead snake pictures up earlier, but my good computer's power supply died and I didn't get another one until late today. The laptop i have been posting from doesn't do anything but get me on the internet. The best 'proof' I can offer of the dead computer, I know, seems like a lame excuse, but I swear it's not:

The snake I've had in my refrig. I know i offer no proof of when the snake died, but I found it dead late Saturday in it's rack. Curled up, head upside down. I hope that people know me enough that i would wish nor bring any harm on any creature, no matter how bad the deal.

This is by far one of the strangest threads that I have read. It is amazing to me how easy it is for threads to get off topic. I wanted to add my 2 cents. As a newbie reading this it puts me in a spot where I might think two, three or four times before doing a trade or buy that requires shipping. Unfortunately in business deals go bad. In this case the deal went bad very quickly with improper shipping ( by that I mean the animals where not shipped with air etc.) What shipper was used is at this point irelevant. I hope that James makes things right because as I sifted through everything Sara is owed money or animals. As for the behavior of the two adults here someone stated earlier that we have all said or done things we are not proud of and this is true. I give kudos to Sara for she started this with the knowledge that not one of her better moments was going to be put on the BOI and would be here as a permanent record. Anyone doing a search of her will see this thread and yes she will be judged by this and the other transactions she has had a part in. But instead of trying to hide what she did wrong she put it out there. How many of us would do the same thing? I hope that she takes this lesson, pulls herself up by her bootstraps, washes her hands of James and moves on. Life is too short to spend worrying about these things. In a matter of a few days this thread has become almost 40 pages and honestly will probably be many more than that before it is closed. Most people in business don't have time to completely immerse themselves in this manner. Best of luck to all that are involved I hope that you get what you deserve, not what you think you deserve.

Here's what I originally posted on fauna but it was deleted.
DO NOT SEND JAMES FANTHORP (FUZZYFRIENDS) ANY MONEY. HE IS A SCAMMER!!! James e-mailed me about some snakes I was trading and we came up with a trade in which he would be trading me some 700g+ female balls for money and some leos I have. Here's the specific trade:
James: 7 CBB 700g+ high yellow female balls
1 CBB high yellow female ball (weight not specified)
3 live adult male african rats

Me: $120 via western union
1.2 SHTCTB leopard geckos
1.0 albino het stripe/ jungle leopard gecko

He asked me to send the money western union b/c he needed it right away and said he didn't have paypal which I said I preferred. This did make me a little suspicious but he spoke freely about the animals so I did. He then began to try to change the trade and give me less. Each time he did this I wrote down what we had agreed on and sent it to him. The last time I did this he said that I had added more to what I was getting from him and that he could get my leos for $300 at daytona which is not true bc they are worth almost twice that much.

Here's the e-mail I sent to him after he sent me the one backing out of the deal and saying that I was adding more on my end of the trade:

For one, I haven't changed what I was getting from the start. That's what we agreed on when we first talked. You even came up with the trade yourself. I wrote it down that day and have not told you anything different. I even have e-mails from you saying that you were sending me 8 female balls...For two, A 1200g female ball will not go for $800 anywhere. 3,000g balls sell for $1,000. Why would someone pay $800 for a 1200g when the could get one more than twice that size for $200 more? At that size it'd be worth about $300 at most. I've bought 1,300-1,500g female balls for $100. I do feel like I am getting the short end of the stick because you did back out. And this is not hardly what we agreed on. I stand behind my word and have a good reputation and have a long list of references. I can tell you that i'm reacting a lot better than most of the people in this business. Most would have put post up all over by now about what has gone on. I decided to be patient and try not to jump to any conclustions. I do not plan to do anything like post as long as I recieve a 1000g+ female ball tomorrow like we discussed last.

Well, you see this post, so you know I didn't recieve a snake...

He then backed out of the deal and asked me if I would like to buy more 700g+ females for $100 each. I told him that I would wait for what he sent and if I liked it then I would buy more. He told me he would ship sat for sun. When I told him this was'nt possible he appologized and told me that it was only his 3rd time shipping. I had already sent him $120 and he told me that he would send me a 1200g female to make up for backing out of the deal. He also told me that he missed shipping the animals twice. I am a very easy going person so I didn't get mad when he said he missed shipping them and gave him the benefit of the doubt. I told him that if I did not recieve a snake on tuesday then send me my money back. I recieved no snake. I e-mail him twice and have gotten no response. He still had ads posted.

If no one presses charges ,how will his fraudulence business practices be halted?

If someone blatantly and fraudulently ripped me off me off,i would not hesitate to persue a legal course of action and seek to have that person arrested and brought up on theft and/or fraud charges.

Contact the police where he is located and make a complaint. Make sure you provide all the information you have, (i.e. e-mails, proof of payment etc.).

I am in a better mood today and will try to explain my previous post to Sara, I was a bit blunt pointing out those IMs without explanation.

I pointed out a few lines from the IM you had with Mr Fuzzy-James-Furry-Retic, you may have only been responding to the "promise" you made to him about getting your money/items of monetary value, but in the context stated it looks to be a treat on this guys life. There are those who will see that IM as a threat to harm this guy. Then there are those that will see it at a "promise" to get what you wanted back, just with a bit of help from someone else. A person to person confrontation can sometimes render the desired results you want, but then again it can backfire too.

You stated this was a bluff, you got angry and told him things you now regret, we all have done that before. If you have an anger issue, it is best to learn to control it now while you are still young. In court, how would this appear to the judge/jury? They do not take bluffs lightly when it looks to be a threat. That "promise" can be used against you. I have seen threats taken lightly and even seriously, someone was hurt on one end or the other. If Mr I-Wanna-Scam-for-a-Living is taken to court by you and can convince he seriously feared for his life(he did call the police), then a lot of the time will be spent by you trying to back your way out of what you typed.

Yes this guy is a piece of work and it is a mistake for anyone to get involved with him. As DAND posted, get a hold of the police in his area and give them all the information. Not every police station is going to use Barney Fife to solve a problem, some police officers do not take stealing lightly and may be able to get this taken care of for you. If anything, they will be able to give you the proper advice you are looking for.

In the end, be careful next time and think before you type.

I will state again that if someone commits theft and fraud i will seek to have that person brought up on criminal charges.
Why...because there are laws against such actions.
I have read some of that other thread.And because my comprehension of how the BOI works ,i shall not comment on it.That is a separate issue.And has no bearing on this thread.
The wheels of justice are not greased ,and things of this nature take time.If you don't have the constitution , metal ,time or money to invest in pursuing such matters,then BILL you are correct.

I do do my home work,and i am quite astute in purchasing animals.and dealing with Sellers.
If a red flag goes up and cannot be addressed ,then i take my business elsewhere.
But there is always a chance of a scam artist getting you.And when that occurs,{and it has to me once ,but not with purchasing animal,}then i have the right to pursue justice to the fullest extent of the law.
Maybe I'm just privileged to be in a situation that i can invest the time and money in pursuing someone that has done wrong by me.
Because if someone rips me of for anything over $300 dollars and /or commits fraud in the process Ill get your ass.Its called a felony.
I'm prepared to spend MORE money in seeing that person/persons come to justice then i am about getting my money back.
The odds of getting your money back in these kinds of cases is next to nil,and you will most likely never see it.
And i am aware of that,and that is why most people don't care to pursue these matters with such gusto Instead they just want to come to the BOI and argue about how something needs to be done yet they don't have the balls to do it themselves.Which is fine ,just don't get on your soap box on how nothing can be done Bill. Because something thing can be done if you have proof that a crime has been committed.

Actually Bill, that is incorrect. A few years ago I was ripped off by a couple who were under the impression if they got caught it would be civil and not criminal. Boy were they surprised when the police showed up at their door with a warrant for their computer as well as warrants for their arrest. They were found guilty, went to jail, ordered to pay restitution to the victims for all of their losses and expenses before they were allowed off probation. Missing a restitution payment got them a weekend in jail.

Keep good records, be persistent and you too can put a thieving scammer behind bars and get you monies returned.

I see your point, But lets look at this in this aspect for a second, How many people have been ripped off and tried to take legal action and came out on top ??? As for me getting up on a soap box, You haven't really been around the BOI that long to even have a clue about me, I don't post just to see my name up in lights, I post because people getting ripped off is really hurting what this community is about, And before someone comes back with " Oh Bill Did This to such and such" yes I made a mistake and I still pay for it. But by that mistake I made it just strengthens my beliefs that if you make one mistake you are human, if you make a couple then you are a career criminal.
